All of ya'll are wrong. It had nothing to do about porting, but familarity with the hardware.

It's likely hard to spot the framerate differences unless you're watching it on the tv

LEFT4DEAD411.COM
Bet with disolitude: Left4Dead will have a higher Metacritic rating than Project Origin, 3 months after the second game's release.  (hasn't been 3 months but it looks like I won :-p )

My boyfriend just picked it up for the PS3. I did notice a bit of frame jumping, especially when you switch through menus as he played.

To cash in my CC rewards points for $300 in Circuit City gift cards to purchase a 360 or not: That is the question.

I played a couple of games on the 360 version at my friends house earlier, then I went and bought the PS3 version, took it over to his house and played 1 game.

The difference is noticable, but it's by no means a deal breaker. You can tell that the 360 version is smoother during the gameplay (I thought they looked almost the same during the cutscenes). While I was actually playing, there wasn't that much of a difference in the gameplay or the animations. The difference is even less pronounced because I was concentrating more on the actual gameplay than the graphics.

If you're just watching and not playing and you can pay attention, you can notice that there is a difference in smoothness.

Overall I think they're pretty similar. I would say, in my opinion, that the PS3 version's visuals are good (above average) and the 360's visuals are great. When you compare the 2 the 360's obviously better because it's smoother, but this doesn't mean that the PS3 version is bad.

On it's own, that's to say if the 360 version didn't exist, the PS3 version is pretty awesome. It's just when you compare the two that the PS3 looks inferior (though not by that much). I think it's more hype than anything.

Thanks for your review.  I did notice minor differences when watching the gamevideos side-by-side comparison, but I did not think the differences were as big as they have been hyped to be.

If I had both systems, I'd definitely get the 360 version, but if I liked Madden more than NCAA (and I don't), I'd still get it for my PS3.  This does make me feel better about the NCAA game, however, so I look forward to getting that for my PS3 (I like dynasty mode more than playing).

What is good is that both games have all the features they should have except for online leagues, which 1UP and IGN continue to push for.  How IGN scored the graphics higher for the Wii than the PS3 even though the reviews say it looks as good as the PS2 version is beyond me, though.

Ok....I started off the evening buying the 360 version. The game is so full of bugs it isn't even funny... Even though it's 60 fps it does get hammered with slowdowns, and occassional momentary lockups. After about 30 minutes I had enough and went back to the store and told them I got the wrong version and needed it for the ps3 not the 360.

Honestly, it plays about identical to the 360 from what I experienced. The game should not have been released in this state for any of the next gen systems and should have spent a few more months in development to make it better.

Oh, and the clincher as to why I took back the 360 version..... The online was unplayable to me... attempted 4 games. The first 3 either myself or the other player were unable to pick any sort of play and we friendly quit right away..... The last one was full of slowdowns and freezing and honestly was unbearable to play. I will say that it seems that the PS3 has the 360 beat in online gameplay that I've seen as I was actually able to complete a full game online without any problems out of the ordinary for this game. (Yea, fumblitis and massive interceptions were thrown).

I'm not sure how true the "all versions built from the ground up" statement is. I suspect the PS3 version borrows heavily from the 360 version, just as the Wii version(which I just bought) obviously borrows from the old PS2 version. On the Wii version of Madden some things, like the playing field, look great, while the players faces(which I came across while looking through menus/options) look like play-doe sculptures. So I'm calling BS on the "from the ground up" line from EA.

The PS3 framerate issue is most likely due to devs not being familiar enough with working on the PS3. I'd bet it's a non-issue next year. It's great that a mainstream paper like USA Today is (basically)telling the ignorant masses that the PS3 just can't handle the load, which is pretty silly.

Well yeah a ton of stuff is borrowed from different 2008 versions, and also the 2007 versions... But I think what they meant by "from the ground up" is they had the same size dev team working for the same amount of time on each version, they didn't give any console a priority for quality... And the difficulties of the Cell mean that more time should have been spent on the PS3 version...

More time should have been given to ALL versions of Madden this year. It should never have been released, but the sad thing is, people will still buy it because it's the only NFL football game out there. See what happens when EA buys exclusive rights to something like this and they become lazy and end up releasing a few poorly coded and working games in a row. EA was really in fear when 2k5 came out and was taking away a significant chunk of their marketshare. What I know now, since i have a madden on PS3 is that I will not buy another one for quite a while, especially with game quality being a huge concern.

It's not a PS3 thing or problem, it's a EA thing as none of the new versions really are all that great.
