I've noticed a trend, pretty much every gamer today agrees that Dreamcast was the best console ever. The absolute peak of gaming, every game for DC was a gem and woe is you for stupidly going for a PS2 back in the day. Do they really believe that, or do they just want to sound interesting?
If everyone who says "dreamcast was the best!@" had actually bought one, Sega would still be making hardware.
Where did this belief start, and why?
The amount of highly rated (85+) PS2 games is greater than the entire Dreamcast library, bad games and all. (yes, shocking as it sounds, bad games were released on Dreamcast).
Even Gamecube's library dwarfs Dreamcast, even if you only count highly rated games.
And the few highly rated Dreamcast games, like Skies of Arcadia, Shenmue and Ikaruga, were released on other platforms.
I know there are hundreds of Dreamcast fans here, so please tell me, if you could only have one console for the rest of your life, would you honestly pick Dreamcast?

Well for starters.. I hang out on ALLOT of game forums and I can honestly say I can't remember post in present time were they said the Dreamcast was "The absolute peak of gaming", maybe in 1999/2000...
I think it's a rarity to praise the Dreamcast with out even owning one.. besides the typical "played it at my friends house".
I mean if your talking about the threads/ replies on this site, the site doesn't even have 1 million users, and Dreamcast sold over 1 millions units.....

The Dreamcast brought plenty of amazing games to the table. PSO, NFL 2K1, Soul Calibur, Power Stone, Sonic Adventure, Seaman, Jetset Radio, etc;
It also brought the First Online Console to the Table. (Phantasy Star Online was my first MMO, I remember playin that game endlessly.) That alone made it an amazing console.
It had Mouse and Keyboard support for games and Internet on your TV.
Excellent memory VMU units, so you can take part of your game with you, level up, get more money, collect / unlock items all on the go...
It was also an amazing console for it's price ($199.99 out the gate). Everyone could enjoy it... it wasn't at a point were people had to save paycheck after paycheck to own one.
Sadly the Dreamcast failed because of crappy ports, easy to copy games (just burn and play, no mod chip) and the loss of 3rd parties, much after the expensive Saturn aftermath SEGA lost interests with developers.
I don't know why you mention Dreamcast games going to other consoles after it was gone.. that really has nothing to do with the Dreamcast, other then people liked the Dreamcast games so much that they wanted them on other consoles. (SEGAGT / Jetset Radio Xbox Pack)
Much like why Dreamcast games are coming up for Download on a console near you in the not to distant future.
