I'd feel kind of sad. Lots of people losing their jobs and the market might shrink by a tiny bit.

You just posited the question, "What if the PS brand is canned?" Then we might as well ask, "What if the Playstation 3 is no longer supported by Sony?" Will third-parties still botheer to put out games on it? Would multiplatform games be worth the investment anymore? Without the other leg for the HD colossus, would the 360 inevitably spiral into a more rapid third party abandonment?

There's all kinds of freaky, kooky shit that could go down. I'm not an analyst. I don't know what would happen. But if we want to talk about imagining worst-case scenarios, I guss I'm the guy to go to.

360 fans.....for the sake of your multiplat games PRAY the PS brand isn't canned.

Even if they close divisions, it doesn't mean that the products itself, under the division, would be ended. They could move the products they want under another division. For example, if they want to axe SCE, products/services could very well be moved under BMG (or we could see a split between Sony electronics and Sony entertainment divisions). Basically just axing the divisions and moving profitable products/product lines where they see a future, under other divisions would save huge costs in their administrative costs. Although, according to article, the investors want more harsh measures.

I see Sony Ericsson getting axed soon with like 35000 more Job Cuts. They will pull back in R&D and close or move factorys situated in Japan. After all this is over, Sony will still be a massive business, just not the Goliath Transnational Corporation they once were. They have enough assets to keep them afloat.
Playstation should be Ok..........I dont know were i'l go if Playstation is discontinued.

Sony Ericsson is not based in Japan, it's based in England and Sweden.

What if they did sell playstation? Is there anyone who could successfully take the playstation brand under their wing at the moment?
