I dont know how you are losing your time with that guy Ronster 316 .....hde doesnt even know Sony was in gaming first with the MSX .
I find it interesting. So much hate IMO based so far mainly on misconceptions. Sony being the first corporation to get involved in gaming? There were so many, including for example Panasonic (3Do), Sanyo, LG, etc. Only Sony was really successful, this seems to be the main reason for his hate (IMO).

Considering his love of Sega, my theory is that he hates Sony with undying fervor for killing the Dreamcast.  Time, it seems, has not healed that wound; instead it has festered.  He turned to the Xbox as the closest thing to a successor to Dreamcast.

My advice to fanboys: Brag about stuff that's true, not about stuff that's false. Predict stuff that's likely, not stuff that's unlikely. You will be happier, and we will be happier.

MikeB - Your incessant defense of all things sony makes me think you are on their payroll. You act as if the ps3 can do no wrong when in fact it has nearly bankrupted sony. Live our real world rather than playing in your dream world.

With all the Sony job cuts looming, he's trying to make himself too valuable to be let go.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

@ bdbdbd- As time progresses PS3 will most certainly be the system to own. Although myself and many believe it already is. And no Sony will be profitable with the PS3. It will be down the line, but they will be profitable. And the only thing i agree with you is as for right now it may be priced too high for some. I disagree with the lack of games statement because of the fact that the ps3 has too many good games for most to even afford. Of course, the price will eventually change tho. And you are wrong again, Sony is about 2 billion in the hole with the ps3, so if they make an average of $100 on each unit sold for the rest of the lifespan of the ps3 they would have to sell 20 million units to break even. They have achieved that in 2 years with 400-500-600 dollar prices. I'd say in its remaining 8 years they could certainly make a profit.

@richarddhutnik- if you want to buy your new xbox and peripherals whenever it comes out be my guest. I own the most future proof console with by far the most potential. And as long as tv's are benchmarking at 1080p, which they will be for years to come, your new xbox won't look much better if at all better than my ps3.

Which financial statements are you reading finance major? I think you'll find it's now in the vacinity of ~$3.5billion.

I think the latest report from iSupply stated they believe Sony to be currently losing ~$50 on every PS3 sold. Even with the hardware chipset shrinkage/revisions savings they'll more than likely pass those onto the consumer before the gap exceeds a point where developers consider the PS3 an 'afterthought'. I think it's highly unlikely that they'll return to profitability on selling the hardware alone as you're suggesting.

You sound like you're MikeB's apprentice in your last paragraph...if the 360 lasts as long as the PS3 (regardless of a successor emerging) will it then have the same 'future proofing' and 'potential'? I'm tired of reading my own writing rebutting this remark but the whole superior technological advantage meant diddly-squat last generation, why this generation is it all of sudden a huge 'ace in the hole'?

So true!

The only absurd PS3 hate I see is that the PS3 has "no games". Quite annoying really considering the PS3 had games since its release.

that argument is dead.  I mean you see people doing it to the wii too sometimes.  There's really no excuse for saying that about any system, almost all systems even in the past had good games even the ones that failed terribly.  PS3 is far above those.

currently playing: Skyward Sword, Mario Sunshine, Xenoblade Chronicles X

Lol what a funny thread. I really do beleive that most of the people on here have forgot one BIG thing. Its just a game console people lol. Gaming is a pass time done for enjoyment. The bottom line is you buy a console because you think that it will provide you with hours of enjoyment. Now getting that enjoyment comes in diff forms. Some people (I'll just call them tech heads) buy consoles not only for games but all of the bells and whistles they might have. Other people get consoles because of the games that are available, while other price is a factor and the final reason because some of there freinds have that console. Why people hate on one console over there other is silly and I would say a huge % of consoles owners dont even give a thought to it. What does it matter again what console is more powerful does that take away your enjoyment? Nearly everything fanboys fight over your average consumer doesnt think of because frankly they just play games and dont give anythought into all this stuff lol or care. The article did have some points but it really did come of as written by a ps3 fanboy which really then took away the impact of it. Mike B I have to say I really think that in your eyes sony can do no wrong and MS can do no right lol looking back at all your posts that is way clear lol It wouldnt be supprised if MS was to announce that the 360 was to get a 100 dollar price cut with all sales money going to the homles you would still find something to bash the 360 for(ofcourse this isnt going to happen Im just making a point on how you love to put the 360 down)

what am i jealous of?

@vthokiesmoo: Well, even if PS3 comes down in price, it needs to compete 360, which will allways be cheaper and offers the same as PS3. And as long as the hardware sales don't go up, it's unlikely that developers keep intrest in that platform. 3rd party exclusives are unlikely to happen due to low installbase and high costs. And in multiplatform releases PS3 can't compete 360 due to the price.
Then there's Wii, which seems to be getting large number of exclusive titles.

As for the exclusiues, each console has its own big exclusives. M$ seems to be trying to hammer PS3:s exclusives list with similar releases (Forza, Lips and titles yet to be seen) and in fact, 360 is at the moment in the position, in relation to PS3, that M$ knows how to play it well, they've been doing it for decades on operating systems; once you get the lead, copy every advantage your competition has or may have over you. Then Wii has a couple killer apps with Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii. Which each roughly equal FF13, Halo 3, Gears of War, Bioshock, GT5 and GTA4 combined. So what Sony has against, is a big uphill battle in terms of games library and hardware price.

On top of this, Microsoft and Nintendo are both in a far better position than Sony to reduce the price of their console and aggressively "Attract" third party exclusives ... While it may not be something that Nintendo likes to do in high numbers, they have in the past attracted third party support by doing joing marketing campaigns with companies; and to spend $50 Million marketing the Wii MotionPlus with an exclusive 1 to 1 lightsaber fighting game would work out well for everyone involved.
