And as long as the hardware sales don't go up, it's unlikely that developers keep intrest in that platform. 3rd party exclusives are unlikely to happen due to low installbase and high costs. And in multiplatform releases PS3 can't compete 360 due to the price. Then there's Wii, which seems to be getting large number of exclusive titles. As for the exclusiues, each console has its own big exclusives. M$ seems to be trying to hammer PS3:s exclusives list with similar releases (Forza, Lips and titles yet to be seen) and in fact, 360 is at the moment in the position, in relation to PS3, that M$ knows how to play it well, they've been doing it for decades on operating systems; once you get the lead, copy every advantage your competition has or may have over you. Then Wii has a couple killer apps with Wii Sports, Wii Fit and Mario Kart Wii. Which each roughly equal FF13, Halo 3, Gears of War, Bioshock, GT5 and GTA4 combined. So what Sony has against, is a big uphill battle in terms of games library and hardware price. |
On top of this, Microsoft and Nintendo are both in a far better position than Sony to reduce the price of their console and aggressively "Attract" third party exclusives ... While it may not be something that Nintendo likes to do in high numbers, they have in the past attracted third party support by doing joing marketing campaigns with companies; and to spend $50 Million marketing the Wii MotionPlus with an exclusive 1 to 1 lightsaber fighting game would work out well for everyone involved.
