Forums - Nintendo - FPA Metroid Trilogy is over. Time to move on. 3rd Person anyone?

I'm all for some 3rd person adventuring. Dead Space graphics and Zelda's depth and I'm sold.

Mario, so what? I don't see Mario Galaxy reaching 20 million sales. Seem like the side scroller is beating the 3D one to me.

Anyway, I am more arguing for argument shake than anything, I don't much care one way or another since my biggest beef with the FP one was controlling the shoothing part with a f*cking gamepad, a problem that will soon no more exist once the remake arrive.

Thing is most successfull handheld games usually always outsell console games. (USUALLY!) Top 20 is split between console/handhelds.

Fucking this!!! Why cant you be open-minded or have thoughts like this!

So far most people fear something different. You say FP did it right but I keep saying you never know until a 3rd Person version comes out.

...Not another 2D Metroid for all you retro gamers. Fact is therers only a few left (plenty on this site though) not alot people care. (Dont bring MM9 either.) 3D will appeal to much more people than just the core gamer.
Not a god awful online FPS multiplayer like some peopel suggest either...

I don't care. 2D adventure games still work just look at the Castlevania games....also there's MegaMan9.

I'm sure I'll get chewed out for this, but how about a third person game featuring Samus without the suit? Maybe in a bikini. That would be nice. Samus still has enough moves without the suit on, and seems to become more acrobatic. Maybe she could find love finally.

Or! Or...Samus could be pregnant and she knows who the father is but is afraid to tell him because...there's a bounty on his head and she is conflicted on whether to accept this killer bounty or have a father for her kid. New gameplay mechanics could be random vomiting, taking pills in the morning cycle to assist, and rumbling in the controller meaning the baby is kicking. Plus you'll have to protect your stomach area from enemies.

Edit: My bikini game would be this pic but in 3D. Ooo lala!

The series works incredibly well in First Person. A large part of what makes the game so great is just how enveloping and engaging the first person perspective is. The screen overlays, the scanning, steam on your helmet. It just draws you in so well. Arbitrarily switching the games perspective only makes sense if it's to usher in a new concept or play style.

I wouldn't support changing the games perspective just for the sake of it. If anything, I think we should maybe get a handheld or wiiware title, and then let the Metroid franchise take a break until the next console. Give Nintendo a chance to seriously up the graphical presentation as well.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Lol. Castlevannia has also had shitty 3D games which is why people keep saying more 2D games. I say stfu and let 3D come. All it takes is for one developor to get it right and wow everyone.

Some people simply will not accept a 3D Castlevania. I dont understand. Im not say be uber hyped just keep an eye out because you never know.

My friend, you have just boiled Metroid down to it's distilled essence, put it into a needle, and injected it into my eyeball!!!  THIS is the Metroid I've been wanting to play for years!!  Fuck yes!

Call Nintendo up right now.

Yes, but why? It's dissoluting the original integrity of the Metroid franchise to keep on stretching its orignal magic thin over genre after genre. 2D one's timeless. The Prime games were, surprisingly, equally great. So why? Why not just make a new 3rd person sci-fi IP--why do we have to bastardize Metroid's legacy just to get a whimsical, it-might-be-good game? That's a flimsy argument--I mean, I could claim that Little Big Planet would be better if it was 3rd person; we'll never know until we try. But why try, it works amazingly how it is?

Not trying to sound too angry or anything, this is just a subject I've given a good bit of thought to so I have fairly wordy things to say about it.
