I mean, that's like saying "Do you want a first-person Zelda game?"

I don't.

This.

Metroid Prime and Half-Life are two very similar franchises. Both have their silent heroes, both have damn good puzzles. One just focuses more on the shooting the other on the aadventure.

That said, MP could easily be in 3rd person, howeverit will be the same. There is NO difference between 1st and 3rd, other than the fact that you can see things coming from the sides/behind you. However in 3d person, doing some of the few shooting parts in MP will become a pain, since you'd have Samus blocking your view all the time. Therefore stay with 1st or 2D.

Isnt that like saying your character in 3rd Person shooters are in your way all the time!?

Come on there is a big difference in FP and 3rd Person. Combat for one could be change alot

"Look at the 17 million+ and still rising NSMB sales". Yeah, side scroller are dead:)

Still, I have no problem with a third person Metroid. Never been a big fan of the first person Metroid anyway.

Mario.......MARIO! On DS! I dont think thats a fair example to use. Plus I mean console. A 2D metroid console game would fail I think. Retail not WiiWare.

I doubted them going to 3D and I was awfully wrong......so Id take a well developed Metroid 3rd person shooter

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

That's exactly why it should NOT be in 3rd. 3rd person shooting is a joke and retarded, just like melee swordfighting in 1st is a joke.

You'll never know until someone tries is what Im saying! Why not let the series take a risk like it did with First-Person. It might just turn out great.

I already stated it, because of the combat, which while limited still exists. It's been tried and it sucks. Not even the great Gears does it well.

I actually found that 1st person veiw works extremely well for the series, and i dont think theres a real need to rework it into a 3rd person game. I love the Prime games and i love the 2D games, and personally i feel that the Prime games, despite its 1st person view, managed to capture what made the original Metroid games so great.

Mario, so what? I don't see Mario Galaxy reaching 20 million sales. Seem like the side scroller is beating the 3D one to me.

Anyway, I am more arguing for argument shake than anything, I don't much care one way or another since my biggest beef with the FP one was controlling the shoothing part with a f*cking gamepad, a problem that will soon no more exist once the remake arrive.

Persons without argument hide behind their opinion

A series is largely defined by it's gameplay.
You couldn't make GTA, say, a FPS and expect to still really be GTA, at all.
This is what makes the Prime trilogy's awesomeness SO awesome--Retro managed
to distill the essence of Metroid in a completely different genre. That being said, the games, while great, were not as incredible as the original 2D sidescrollers.

So, no. You can only reinvent a series so many times before losing any trace of its original charm. What I want, what I NEED is Metroid 5, in all of its 2D, sidescrolling glory. Anybody who doesn't like 2D sidescrollers hasn't just spent enough time with the genre, IMO.

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

retro said there done with it for a little while but they will still make more down the road. maybe a 2d on wiiware or ds but there is no reason for it to take a step back on the console version.
