Forums - Nintendo - FPA Metroid Trilogy is over. Time to move on. 3rd Person anyone?

Ive played Metroid 3: Corruption has flaws imo but a good game overall. Everyone who liked the series I think youve had your fun with a trilogy of FPA Metroid.

I think since Retro is done with the series and Im not a personal fan of 2D side-scrolling adventure games I want a 3rd Person Metroid.

My bias opinion aside. Metroid hasnt done 3rd Person yet. If you want the series to do something fresh 3rd Person is the way to go.

Not another 2D Metroid for all you retro gamers. Fact is therers only a few left (plenty on this site though) not alot people care. (Dont bring MM9 either.) 3D will appeal to much more people than just the core gamer.
Not a god awful online FPS multiplayer like some peopel suggest either.

You cant say 3rd person wont work either thats BS. EVERY SIGLE SERIES can suceed in 3D it just up to the developer. Some people make the argument certain mechanics from the FP Metroids wont work on a 3rd Person. NO SHIT! Its a completly different experiences. Which is why in the 3rd Person they can introduce is to something new that cant be done in FP and we'll all be amazed again.

Anyone agree or are you afraid of change and want something thats been done already?

EDIT - Im talking about Console/Retail!
NOT WiiWare or Handheld!

I want another game in the same fashion of Metroid Prime.

That or a 2D side-scroller.

Most people expected Metroid to be in 3rd Person though. When they they said First-Person peopel flipped.

Now people are just scared for a 3rd Person game since First-Person worked out so well.

This.

Metroid Prime and Half-Life are two very similar franchises. Both have their silent heroes, both have damn good puzzles. One just focuses more on the shooting the other on the aadventure.

That said, MP could easily be in 3rd person, howeverit will be the same. There is NO difference between 1st and 3rd, other than the fact that you can see things coming from the sides/behind you. However in 3d person, doing some of the few shooting parts in MP will become a pain, since you'd have Samus blocking your view all the time. Therefore stay with 1st or 2D.

Sure, why not. It's not my particular desire but I wouldn't be against it either.

(I prefer first person games in general, but it's a minor issue to me)

A game I'm developing with some friends:

It is largely a technical exercise but feedback is appreciated.

"Look at the 17 million+ and still rising NSMB sales". Yeah, side scroller are dead:)

Still, I have no problem with a third person Metroid. Never been a big fan of the first person Metroid anyway.
