And you don't think Starcraft is still selling? If I remember well, the 9.5 millions figure was taken in 2007, before the announcement of Starcraft 2. And I remember Starcraft had a spike in sales right after SC2's annoucement, so it's possible it has reached 10 millions by now.

Define "interesting". Starcraft is sitting at 9.5 million copies legally sold. It took it half a decade to reach that point. Halo 3 will pass that up by the end of December.

Starcraft 2 is going to have to appeal to a much larger userbase than the original, on top of being pirated a lot less than current trends would indicate, in order to match those numbers within a year, much less six months. We're going to be lucky if Mario Kart Wii doesn't break ten million for the year before December even gets here.

The original Starcraft sold only 1.5 millions in it's first year. It sold an extra 8 millions in the years after...

PC games are selling now more than ever, even with the rampant piracy. Blizzard is also in the top of their career, with Wrath of the Lich King having sold 2.8 millions copies in just 24 hours.

I was thinking along the lines of the moment it's released until Jan. 1 for this year. As for the other thirds of the game, I say we count those at a 1/2 sale each. After all they are supposed to be as epic and badass as the first third....(Don't worry, the consoles will soon will half-ass copy that aspect of PC gaming as well, expansions that is).

This also includes the Wii games, I think Wii Sports will be a far tougher opponent than MK to be honest.
