Forums - General - somebody suggest a good book for me please

Ok, this is the deal, I spent christmas at my parents house, I had a lot of spare time with no work to be done for two weeks (well, lots, but it is christmas). I ended up reading... a lot, I worked out I read a book every four days. Now I have just finished the last book I got for christmas and find myself struggling to find something to read next. I have read all the books in my flat (I'm back home now) with the only book I haven't read being the second book of hitchhikers guide to the galaxy that my mate left here once, but I would like to read the first book.

Any way can anyone suggest a book for me? I hate schaddenfreud and well pretty much all tragic books. I like happy books. My favorite genre is fantasy and my favorite author is Terry Patchett. So can anyone suggest a good book I might like?

Thanks

Northern Lights by Phillip Pullman

I just finished Survivor by Chuck Palahniuk. Pretty good read.

If you haven't read Small Gods....pick it up. Also, Good Omens...but I'm sure you've read those by now.

If you'd like something dense...try Dune by Frank Herbert.

And if you'd like a simple sci-fi adventure, try Ender's Game.

^ I've read survivor and small gods, I didn't like survivor that much. But I have never read good Omens (never picked it up, but I know it's supposed to be good) or dune.

Actually I think I may get Good Omens tomorrow actually, thanks etecoon

Enders Game is a huge favorite of mine. You should try it sometime.

No prob.

As far as Survivor goes...What do you think happened at the end? How long has it been since you read it? I can't decide if he is lying to the black box (and the audience) or if he is really too stupid to put on a parachute and get out of the plane before it crashes.

A Tale Of Two Cities

The Curious Incident Of The Dog In The Nightime

Knights Of The Black And White

When I read survivor I was still in school and doing GCSEs so it would have been about 2000/1. But it was still a recent book then if I remember, but I can't actually recall much about the book, it was about a guy telling his life story and it was about a cult wasn't it?

Prey by Michael Crichton, god bless his soul

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD
