Forums - Gaming - Gears of War vs. Uncharted Cover System

Gears cover > Uncharted cover. But from what I read in that Gameinformer thingy, I think Uncharted 2 cover > Gears 2 cover. One thing is certain, GTA IV has the most frustrating cover this gen (even worse then MGS4's cover)!

wa ? that implies mgs4's cover is really bad.

I did not like uncharteds....from the demo. Feels stiff.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

the demo is nothing compared to the final game, it's proly the most fluid game this gen in terms of animation.

I don't know about what's being changed in Uncharted 2. With the first one though, I think Gears of War allowed you to do a few more things while you were in cover (like crouch) that you couldn't do in Uncharted. I don't believe accidently sticking to cover was as much of a problem in Uncharted as it was Geras though.

Still, they both work well.

Gears, the cover-roadie run is great, and it is really tight and smooth, Uncharted is not quite so good, but I would say it is an overall better game

The cover system in Gears is great, save for a few minor annoyances (your character has a nasty habit of roadie running right into unwanted cover). I haven't played Uncharted, but since taking cover isn't the main focus of the game, I doubt it's as good.

Maybe not as it's not a top to bottom shooter. Since you can die quickly though, the cover system does what it does well to get you out of the line of fire.

I can't judge Uncharted I have not gotten to play it. Cover is one of my gripes with Gears and an area I expected to see improvement on In gears 2. Its oversimplifed and less predictable by its use of situational context. Where you are determines to much of what action is taken. Give me Rainbow Six Vegas 2's implementation of cover. I'll take control over flash anyday.

I'm playing Uncharted right now on crushing to try to get the platinum and even though my post looked more Gears-loving, I really appreciate the cover system on crushing mode. Uncharted is so good..

If you read this, slap yourself.
