I had a controller once that just refused to charge, so once it ran out it was gone. Maybe you have a bad one like I did (It was a SIXAXIS btw)

My SIXAXIS is another story.  It charges but I get an hour or two of play out of it.

Sounds like a faulty battery to me. It probably came with a defective battery. Rechargeable batteries have this problem all the time. Eventually they just can't hold a charge and will lose juice even when off and not in use. How long have you had the controller?

i come and go from playing games just as you, i leave the system on and turn the controller off. but i have yet to have this happen to me :o

maybe just plug your controller in when you leave? also a day you have some time to kill just game for a few hours straight and keep checking your battery levels. the controller could be a dud

I haven't ran into this issue. I would talk to Sony about what you can do.
