Forums - Gaming - To all who apply: Why do you own both PS3/360?

I own a 360 because it has some RPGs I wanted, and I can make up any lame excuse I want to buy a console, since I work in the games industry. I initially bought one just to experience HD console gaming (my release 360 RRoD'd, of course -- I have a Jasper now), although I didn't really care much until the PS3 came about, and the 360 started getting some cool RPGs.

I bought a PS3 for so many reasons I dunno where to begin.  Its my favorite, by far.  It feels better, and the exclusives are totally worth it.  Even working on it is more entertaining (because it has more power to tap than the 360, and its harder to do so.  I like what I do for a living - I live for a rewarding challenge). My kids love Blu-Ray, since I have a big LCD and a nice 7.1 surround system.  My entire CD library fits on the 320GB drive I installed into it.  I have a PS2 BC model, so I can play my huge PS2 library without bothering with my PS2 (I must have a backlog of 3+ years of PS2 RPGs alone). I could go on and on.

slightly off topic... I bought a Wii as a replacement for my GC, and for future Nintendo franchises (Mario, Zelda, etc.). I love the fact that the Wii is getting some JRPG attention, because the JRPG/SRPG subgenres need all the help they can get to survive. I will be pissed if those JRPGs try to get to gimmicky with the Wiimote (which seems to get in the way of decent gameplay, more often than not), which I kinda dislike in general.

for me ive always loved the playstation brand so ps3 was a no brainer, the games rock my socks. as for microsoft well my friends have bought into them since they came out and the 360 is a decent machine with some nice exclusives, so friends mixed with exclusives that i would play is why i bought a 360 to go along with my ps3. and the wii was a gift from the rents for all to enjoy. and of course the pc is here to play starcraft2,diablo3, ffxi, C&C, etc etc.

I want to be able to play whatever I want. Plus, when I buy two games on different consoles, and the clerk says ,"I'm sorry, sir. But this game is for a different console" It's priceless when I say ,"Yeah. I know."

Best post in thread.

So far I only own 360, but I do have plans to own a PS3 eventually in the distant future so I can play the exclusives and Blu-rays. The Wii simply doesn't have games that I'm interested in playing

I own a PS3 and a 360.

Reason: I like the PS3 better in every aspect except online abilities, as far as cross-game invites, during-game private chats, etc.

The friends I have that play video games are on XBOX Live, so if I want to play with them, I get the game on 360. Everything else I buy on PS3, which is the majority of what I buy.

I have absolutely positively no use for the Wii. It's neat, I'm not saying I wouldn't ever play it. I like Wii sports and Mario Party games..but I only play those things when I'm around non-hardcore-gamers (not saying Wii has no hardcore gamers or hardcore games, just saying I've never met a hardcore gamer whose main console is a Wii..that's all I'm saying..) who like the Wii, who have the Wii, and only play it whenever we have a group to play, which isn't often. All of my gamer friends play 360 or (gradually I'm converting them to) PS3.

I bought a PS3 because I love Sony exclusives and because I wanted to feed my full HD screen

I got a 360 when a friend of mine decided to upgrade to the Elite System and gave me his old console. So I could play Gears or Fable 2

I usually attempt to get all the systems sooner or later because there are titles/features that I enjoy that no one system has. Sometimes there is not enough that interests me on a system to justify the cost, so I do not always buy all the systems.

I would currently rank use/purchases on my current gen systems as:

PC
Xbox 360
Wii
PS3

360 for games, PS3 for blu-ray player and upconverter. I have 3 games on PS3 also.

Because both consoles came out swinging with amazing exclusives.

I don't own a 360, but I could easily get one just for the JRPGs
