Forums - Sales - Will Next-Gen Consoles ALL Come With A Bundle?

Looking at a trend, Nintendo consoles with bundles have had success (NES and Wii). Including a game with the console seems to make it sell, even if it's just a bit more than if it wasn't bundled. Now, Sony and MS will most likely participate in the next gen. Do you think that it's possible that these companies will also be adding a bundle to their next console?

It seems logical, at least to me, to include even a small "demo" game of what the console features. I'm not talking about a video like the PS3 vrings shwoing us what Blu-Ray is capable of, I'm talking about gams like Wii Sports and Super Mario Bros. on the NES.

In my opinion, I think all next-gen consoles will come with a bundle. Even if it's not a full game, I just believe an added-game makes the console sell well.

What do you guys think?

well the 360 did bundle 2 games this holidays.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

If the game is good and appeals to the masses like Wii Sports it would be good to drive sales, otherwise it would be useless, a game bundled that doesn't appeal to the masses isn't worth the investment.

It was very sensible for the Wii, because Wii Sports did highlight the new motion controls of the Wii in an excellent way (it is still the best game that really uses them). It doesn't make much sense for consoles that do not have such special controls that can be highlighted by a timeless game like Wii Sports. For PS3 and 360 occasional bundles of current titles is a much better way. This may change when they also add motion controls or other input forms.

I couldve sworn the original Xbox came bundled with 2 games.....then again I dont know that much about last gen.

Anyways bundles happen all the time usually they dont help. Wii needed Wii Sports to show everyone how the Wiimote worked and how fun it was. I dont think the next Xbox or Playstation will have something too dramatic that will require them to bundle a game to show what their system can do.

Unless they all bring motino controllers...

Even if they bring motion controllers, which is most likely to happen despite Sony and Microsoft Shit talking about the Wii gimmicks, won't be anything new. People will look at it and say:

"oh it is the same as that little white box that came out a few years ago!!!"

If it is something COMPLETELY NEW like the Wii was this gen (despite epic failures from microsoft and sega some years ago with motion sensing) then yes, it should came with a game that uses it the most.

One_touch_KO - I highly doubt MS goes the way of the motion controls. MS aren0t looking for first place, hell, even if they end up last, they will have done alot. They are the "hardcore kings" right now, moving to moton controls would be disasterous for them, unless they have a 400 buck virtual-reality Xbxo 720 up their sleeve.

I think this is the way videogame systems have been since the 70s.

The bundles are always a greater attraction and sell more, but for whatever reason (overhead budget costs + R&D I assume) most companies almost never do it, until after the first few waves from the manufacturer have been sold.

So I think that next gen will be the same as this gen, at first no bundles for MS and SONY, maybe Nintendo. It'll be a year or so before bundles are offered.

hopefully Playstation 4 comes bundled with Gran Turismo 7.

I think if you are going to price any of your consoles really high, you should include a game. It makes it more attractive to a buyer when they know that they are paying this much they don't have to buy anything else to startup. I think this trend will continue as long as console prices stay high.
