This was my first venture into JRPGs and I enjoyed the experience (Mario & Luigi Superstar saga is the only other RPG I've played).

I didn't enjoyed the extended cut-scenes though so I would like some recommendations what to go for next. I have a DS, Wii and PS3 but would prefer to play on the hand-held.

I'd whole heartedly endorse the purchase of Chrono Trigger DS. Playing through it for the first time myself and I have to say it holds up well.

Final Fantasy VI is something I also recently caught up with and would also recommend. Can pick up the GBA version pretty cheap.

There are no JRPGs like TWEWY. I'm sorry.

May I humbly recommend picking up Dragon Quest IV, Chrono Trigger DS, and Final Fantasy IV DS?

I heartily recommend all of these. You can't go wrong!

(if I had to pick one, though, it would be FFIV)

If you want to play a JRPG in the DS and you already finished TWEWY (awesome game by the way), my suggestion is Chrono Trigger. Though if you have a BC PS3, you really should try Persona 3 and 4 for the PS2
