Forums - Sales - 360 Now Has 8m Gap Over PS3

The only way that the PS3 can catch up now is if the 360 stops selling. The PS3 needs to sell 700k more units than the 360 a month to catch up by Dec 2009 and I can't see that happening.

Yeah, it isn't even going to happen by Dec 2010.  By that time it will already be time to start seriously talking about the next XBox and the PS3 passing the XBox 360 by that point will be moot.

-edit-

I guess I should say isn't likely

It is possible at some point for the PS3 to outsell the 360 by 350k per month at some point, but up until that point the 360 is going to continue to consistently outsell the PS3 and that gap is just going to increase and get harder and harder to fill.  I'm not saying it's impossible for the PS3 to outsell the 360, I'm just saying it's likely not going to happen by 2011 and when/if the PS3 does the 360, it's not going to matter.

Meanwhile the PS2 keeps selling. That thing is gonna out live the PS3.

Question is, what week will the PS3 finally outsell the 360 WW?

K2 release week?

I hope my 360 doesn't RRoD

If Sony drops price during 1st quarter there wont be much reaction. 2nd quarter will make some movement, but 3rd and 4th would make the most sense. K2 won't sell more than Resistance. I'm telling you now. It looks like a great game and I'm buying it, but don't put your hopes too high for the sales of this game.

I think it will sell more then R2 easily, that is of course if quality = sales which is sadly not always the case. At least it looks pretty for those who have not played it, should hopefully bait more people into buying it.

Killzone 2 will be like Halo 1 for the original Xbox. It will sell very well for the console at first and will over time start to pick up a major fan base that will make it a flagship game.

Either that or it is going to be another "Did well, but still no enough" sales kind of game.

The PS3 is still tracking ahead of the X360 if you compare year over year. The PS3 sold more than 10 million consoles in 2008, while the X360 sold only 8 million in 2007.

The PS3 will easily outsell the X360 lifetime. It will soon start outselling the X360 on a weekly basis after the price drop to $299 (or even at $349) in 2009 (plus aided by KZ2, GOW 3, GT5, FF13), and with 3-4 more years to go it will easily pass the X360 by probably more than 10 million.

The X360 will sell 55 million lifetime, but the PS3 at least 65 million.

You're raising your hopes too high for a game that wont get half of the marketing that Resistance 2 got. Seriously you might as well hold your breath until you turn blue.

Marketing sells more than quality. We're living in a time that proves this. Get with the program. It will not sell more than Resistance 2. Mark my words, it's LTD will be less than Resistance 2.

Even if that happens, Microsoft still wins

But they don't, even at best they come second. If PS3 does 65 million that means they got more sales then the 360 while MS worked harder this gen and also Sony got themselves a disc format.
