Forums - Gaming - Sony fans and their way of seeing things! (most of them)

Having “most of them” in the thread title was wrong of me to do. I am sorry about that but there are allot of them.

The Wii should not be considered as a competitor to the HD consoles. (Now the Sony fans are the most visible so I will not say anything about 360 fans). This is ok for them to say because they are last but if they where on top I bet my life they would go on and on, on how the Wii is being crushed! They automatically become in the same market then!

Anything on Nintendo is for kids and therefore it is a kid’s console but when games like LBP are announced they go nuts over it. Huh?! Why is that I mean it looks kiddie and can be played by kids but all of a sudden it is ok because it is on a Sony console?

They think every games is going to save the PS3 when it is released and when it doesn’t they say the next one will do the job and so on. The Wii is a toy but the PS3 is not.

Claiming that the PS3 will win this gen and next because of the 10 year life span it has. It is actually sad to see this but they are so desperate to make the PS3 seem like the winner! When the Nintendo fans defend the Wii and its games they say that things can never be discussed properly!

No really you guys should accept that every now and then there is a now leader in the market. This is Nintendo’s second time but it is not like Sony hasn’t been on top before.

rant over/

lol, its funny because its true

The wii should not be considered a competitor simply because of the huge disparity between the quality of their software libraries. Never in gaming can I remember a system with such sales dominance yet such a piss poor library of games as the wii. The difference in quality between both hd consoles and the wii simply make them incomparable. Yes, wii crushes them in sales but that's about it

You mean like totally ignorant?

People who say this shouldn't be taken seriously - it's illogical. You're just wasting your breath IMO.

And don't put me under this umbrella term of yours.

There are laundry lists of annoyances for every fan.

Wii fans think that every game on the Wii is reviewed unfairly and never want to admit that perhaps a game just isn't that great.

Wii fans hate the word fad, yet every couple of weeks someone has to start up a new "does anyone think the Wii is still a fad" like they're trying to be comforted or just want to find someone who thinks that so they can make fun of them.

Wii fans have the same issue with comparisons where they want sales comparisons, but when it comes to reviewing they don't want any kind of graphical comparisons.

And Wii owners think that every new game announced for the Wii is going to start a tidal wave of announcements and finally the Wii will be like the PS2 or DS.

Now all of these aren't true for most Wii fans, and only apply to some. But I would say the same about your list, that is not most PS3 fans, and you are being foolish for thinking as much.

...

The dual market people (who say that the HD consoles aren't in competition with the Wii) say so because they see the Wii as last gen due to it's graphic and computational abilities. They also argue that the Wii is only for casuals and the HD consoles are for the hardcore i.e. both are going for a slgihtly different demographic.

The single market people (who say the Wii is competing with the HD consoles) say that all 3 are games consoles and therefore by default all 3 are competing. However, with this argument the PS2 is also competing with the Wii and HD consoles to.

The single market people also say that if you buy a Wii or a Wii game then this is money you have chosen not to spend on a HD console or a HD console game and therefore this is a reason why they are all competing.

Both sides have a point and I think the truth is somewhere in the middle.

I am largely platform agnostic. I fail to understand why some people get overly fanboyish about what is an inanimate piece of electronics that's obsolete even before it's launched, when there are far more important things to champion, such as preventing environmental destruction or preventing millions of people dying unnecessarily from illnesses. This fact however, doesn’t mean I am not someone who doesn’t enjoy gaming as a pastime (as I have done for the last 20 years) or doesn’t have a strong interest in how the market is evolving – hence my presence on this site.

Platforms owned – PC, DS, X-Box 360, PS3, PSP and Wii.
