Why did you post this?

It wasn't to inform other HD owners, was it? Because then you made a huge mistake by posting it in the Nintendo forum (rather than the gaming forum).

Overall: My advice to you: You went in expecting it to be crap. It then oftenly turns out as crap.

I seriously doubt he spent hundreds of dollars on a console and games expecting them to be crap. Perhaps he just has a different opinion to you?

I seriously doubt he spend hundreds of dollars, period.

I'll be the first to say that if this was an honest opinion, he should have the right to hold it, even if it directly contradicts everyone else's. But have you seen this guy's post history? He has yet to say a single thing that indicates he's even slightly interested in the Wii: on the contrary, he seems to be quite dismissive of the console during the time period he's allegedly been thinking of getting one. And then there's the wonderful, not-at-all flaming thread title...

The post is a bit too fishy. Oyvoyvoyv is right about this guy.

OP:

What consoles do you own? What kind of games do you like?

Some of you need to take a chill pill. Instead of bashing him on his opinion, give him examples of some games that he may like(based on his tastes) that are on the Wii.

You actually believe he played all the games or any of them for that matter?

Why not? What makes you think he didn't? When someone dosen't like games on the Wii, and says it on here, he has to be wrong? My god, you people have some serious issues to deal with. I'm done here, you people can't even have a conversation here without screaming "WRONG! Your wrong!"

First, he need to share his favourite games list with counterparts, so they can say what's wrong. I've actually asked OP to do this few posts above, still waiting...

Ok, since you've asked twice I'll make a quick list in no particular order:

Crazy Taxi 2 (Dreamcast)

Timesplitters 2 (PS2)

Shenmue (Dreamcast)

Call of Duty 4 (PS3)

Fallout 3 (PS3)

Morrowind (PC)

Metal Gear Solid 2 (PS2)

Uncharted (PS3)

Tomb Raider 3 (PSone)

Soul Calibur (Dreamcast)

Tekken 3 (PSone)

I own a PS3, Wii, PS2, Dreamcast, PSone. Used to own a Saturn and a Mega Drive.

As a PS3 only owner, I've wanted to buy myself a Wii for about a year and finally decided to buy one this christmas. I wasn't going to do this by halves so I bought some of the highest rated games on the system and settled down to what I'd hoped was going to be a few weeks of amazing gaming:

Super Mario Galaxy, Zelda Twilight Princess, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Zack and Wiki, Metroid Prime 3 and Mario Kart Wii.

Quite frankly, I've never been more disappointed by a games console purchase in my life. I'll give a quick run through of the games I've played:

Super Mario Galaxy: OK, this is definitely a good game and by far the best out of the games I've purchased. It certainly isn't game of the forever/decade as a lot of people seem to claim, however. I certainly did enjoy it though, I'd rate it about a 9/10.

Mario Kart Wii: Quite fun for a while. Identical to the DS version in pretty much every way and the online mode is very basic. There doesn't seem to be any longetivity in the single player mode either. Oh, and the character voices are the most annoying thing I've ever heard; 7/10

Super Smash Bros Brawl: Hugely disappointed with this. I've tried playing online a few times and it literally takes about 15 minutes to find a partner. I don't know if it's to do with my level or whatever but that is ridiculous. The fact that theres only about 10 different moves/combos per character is pretty ridiculous too. I prefer my fighting games to have huge move lists and combos to master; 5/10

Zelda: TP: This is alright. I'm going to guess you have to play the previous games in the series to think it's amazing and as this is my first Nintendo console, I haven't. I've played a lot of superior games in the genre, frankly; 6/10

Zack and Wiki: Not my type of game at all. Boring point and click puzzler with a very childish presentation; 3/10

Metroid Prime 3: FPS games are probably my favourite genre and this game did nothing for me. I'd put it on the level of games like Timeshift; 4/10

These games are supposedly the best the Wii has to offer and I only truly agree with Super Mario Galaxy. When I look at the list of games on the Wii, very little else currently appeals to me. I hated animal crossing on the DS, Wii music just looks awful, Wii Fit I know I'll get bored of after 10 minutes.. what else is there?

I'd advise any other HD console only owners to seriously consider your purchasing plans if you want to buy a Wii like I did. I think we've been spoilt. The graphics in general are quite a lot worse than I'd expected on my HDTV and the downloadable games are extortionately priced, you even have to pay to get an internet browser on your Wii it seems.

This is why I find it hilarious that Wii owners claim we should be jealous of your pointer and motion control. Trust me, you shouldn't be jealous at all, we have it a lot better. I can appreciate the fact that it's certainly bringing a lot more money into the industry and a lot more gamers will bring gaming further into the mainstream. As a games machine, its games are failling far short of my mark.

wow that fails so much, SSBB is amazing and loads of fun as is MKWii, what the hell are you on, seriously!

time to be a nintendo fanboy(but the good kind)

im fine him not liking wii games i just dont understand his reasoning. from what ive read he doesnt like zelda because its not an RPG, doesnt like SSBB because its not like soul calibre, doesnt like metroid because its not run and gun and doesnt like zak and wiki because its point and click. there are some fair points in his post but he just seems to be posting this to annoy people rather than get any intellegent discussion

nintendo fanboy, but the good kind

Metal Gear Solid: Twin Snakes is an amazing remake of MGS for the GCN. If you can find it, I'd definitely recommend it. I'd also suggest Resident Evil Remake for GCN.

As for Wii games....I will always recommend No More Heroes. The witty remarks, story, gameplay, and amazing boss battles make up for it's shotty overworld. Twilight Princess was an alright game, but, I'd suggest downloading OoT on VC. Hell, you don't own any other Nintendo consoles. Maybe you'll like the older games. Super Mario 64, Super Mario World, Ocarina of Time, Super Mario RPG, Starfox 64, etc. Definitely check out the VC and Wiiware. They also have Genesis(Mega Drive) games and Turbografx games.

But, I think you need to look at this from another perspective. Did you like Monster Hunter? MH Tri looks amazing and it's going to be a Wii Exclusive. Mad World looks like a lot of fun and so does The Conduit. I'd also suggest checking out Medal of Honor: Heroes 2. Best Online for the Wii (32 multiplayer, no lag, no friend codes) Maybe you should ignore Nintendo's first party lineup if you don't like them, and go for the third party. The Wii will have complete third party control by the end of the gen.

All in all, you should give the Wii a second chance.

well from your list you like fighting games, shooters, adventure and western RPGs definitely not Nintendo type games :p

I hardly see how Zelda would not be to your liking, too accessible perhaps? but for the rest, it's pretty obvious it's not what you'd want to play. Though I think you'd be better off with a nice PC than a PS3 :p

How were his comments offensive? Do you view the Wii like a member of your family or something? I can understand you being offended if you had a role in designing the Wii or any of the games he didn't like but otherwise feeling offended seems a little odd.

Seriously, I'm genuinely interested how you were offended by the OP. Does people not liking what you like offend you?

How would you have phrased his disappointment differently?

Was I supposed to be quoted here? If so:

His opinions are fine, his disappointment is fine, but some of his comments weren't necessary at all to get his point across. Whether it was intentional or not, some of them sound very trollish. I'm offended by trolls.

Perhaps offensive wasn't the best choice of words, but it worked with my defensive thing so I went with it. Abrasive probably works better.

Some quick and dirty pics for people that don't believe I have the Wii or these games.

Thanks for the recommendations tehsage. I'm not going to sell my Wii yet, but I've decided that Nintendo franchises aren't for me. The Conduit looks interesting at least so I'll wait for that.
