The CDI, Sega CD and Dreamcast were all futureproof too by those criteria.

It's not about people being dumper or smarter; its just people had less experience of capitalism and didnt have the media outlets that we do have now. So it needed a great vision to be able to precisely say that at that time. As a macroeconomist, I have a big respect for Greenspan :)

No product is future proof. Technology is advancing all the time.

Its so future proof it doesnt even work properly in the present.

@freedquacker: Ehmm... Capitalism is the oldest form of economics since money was invented. I don't think 40 years add so much into the "experience". Basically the biggest difference in the 20th century was the skill to learn to use cheap energy, which made travelling between/across the continents efficient. The next similar step would to learn to produce energy with nuclear fusion.

Notice that i wasn't commenting on Greenspan, only the thing that today isn't so diffent what it was 40 years ago. Same could have been said in 1947 or 1927 as well.
