Forums - Nintendo - Smash fans: Which is better Brawl or Melee? Please state Why?

Well the Subspace emissary was infinitely better than Melee's extremely limited single player affair.

At least Melee's Adventure Mode is reminiscent of classic Nintendo games. Almost nothing about Subspace Emissary resembles the past, and for a Smash Bros. game, that's a big no-no. Aside from that, it sucks. Aside from that, Brawl is a masterpiece, better than the grand Melee.

brawl because it has more interesting caracters , in melee, some caracters are just annoying, like pichu, mew, in brawl sonic , snake , and pokemon dresser are  amazing; also brawl surpasses melee for music, level interaction and number; and many other options.

conclusion brawl= melee -some annoying caracters + new music+new caracter+new level+.....................................+new fun

1. There's no such thing as Pokemon Dresser.

2. Pokemon Trainer sucks, mainly because he doesn't have a name, which is another big no-no in a Smash Bros. game. He's just a random Pokemon Trainer. They should have named him Ash. Have Ash, not Ass.

Melee has very little balance, dude. Half the roster was there more for giggles than for practical use, and there were two clear choices if you're looking for the best character for all situations. Brawl's improved there; there are still a few characters who are nowhere near as good as the rest, but it's a smaller list, and there are still no clear favorites. With luck, there never will be.

And while you're right about the slowing-down part, the "casualized" part is rather off. You're just too used to Melee at this point, and you haven't tried to accept the changes that Brawl brings.

See, I never really had that problem. After a while, I perfected (to what I'm capable of at the moment) my one on one character (fox), and my melee character (ganondwarf), and when playing with friends, I would just refuse to use them because I felt like I was just being cheap :P So then playing with other characters made me realize more or less which category they ultimately fit in with. And I've seen AMAZING characters for both, with few of them being utterly useless.

It all relied on playstyle and situation, which I agree wouldn't really fall under balance >_>;;; but if you take a look at the overall picture instead of just the tourney play, it all made more sense. Many people I know would consider peach to be useless when playing on final destination, but all of a sudden, she's not so useless when your playing on big blue, and it's easy as pie for her to survive. I just found that forcing myself to play as other characters, really made you realize just how awesome each character really can be. I'd pick the "useless characters" all the time for stupid shit's and giggles, and find some really amazing abilities.

And I will agree with you about not accepting the changes brawl brings, I really liked what melee brought to the table. People could have fun with it whether they were great at it or not, but the people who really pushed a ton of time into it developed obviously overpowered techniques, and the fights would be epic. But again as I've mentioned, I've seen tourney material players use almost every character on the board, so I just don't find melee to be "cheap", just cheap players, and that's in every game :/ So there's not too much you can really do. You can try to balance the characters all you want, but someone who camps you when your off the ledge is still camping. The speed issues are just too much for me to bare, and it feels like it genuinely affected the pacing of the game. I simply find it far to slow now :/

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

not zelda?

hey was that to me!?

Melee - more advanced techniques, allows for larger gap between greatness and "good", doesn't have tripping, faster gameplay.

Brawl - slower gameplay, tripping, less advanced technique, some new techniques introduced, ability to grab ledge from behind and air dodge more than once, better game.

over-all, melee is the better fighting game, brawl is the better game though. Brawl is still excellent for fighting but melee is better for fighting.

i nearly forgot, melee has less characters that you can play a high level at (act like MK doesn't exist). In melee you'd never see a lower tier like bowser beating one of the best links but it happened in brawl.

Brawl is definately better; it's just an improvement in every area, maybe not very a dramatic improvement but it's a great game without a doubt.

ok really about the camping thing it is not that hard to just go punish them for it... adapt to the play style and as far as the speed, you can have fox and everyone else as fast as sonic, that would be as ridiculous as sonic and mario olympic games...and the graphics... on the opening scene it even shows you the difference in link and mario, 2 notable ones, melee is in the past so just get over it.... it was a game were competitively if you wanted to have a shot you had maby 4 characters at most you had to use

brawl is more balanced it doesn't force you to use 3 characters like melee did when playing competitively. so i would give it to brawl.
