Forums - Nintendo - Smash fans: Which is better Brawl or Melee? Please state Why?

all i need to do is quote a pro melee player: "Mew2King owns a copy of Super Smash Bros. Brawl and has widely criticized the game for lacking techniques from Melee. [1] However, at least as of now, he enjoys playing Brawl competitively, and says that Meta Knight is the sole reason he enjoys the game."

meta knight is the first character who can be banned in tournaments for being unbalanced.

ok really about the camping thing it is not that hard to just go punish them for it... adapt to the play style and as far as the speed, you can have fox and everyone else as fast as sonic, that would be as ridiculous as sonic and mario olympic games...and the graphics... on the opening scene it even shows you the difference in link and mario, 2 notable ones, melee is in the past so just get over it.... it was a game were competitively if you wanted to have a shot you had maby 4 characters at most you had to use

This is a myth though -_- I've joined many a competitions and fought many a foes, on many a stages :P Sure you'll find ton's of people that pick the same characters over and over, but melee really did put a ton  of effort on the different play styles. I played as fox and ganon of course cuz I liked them, and learning fox felt rewarding as he can be pretty spazzy to control if your new to the game, but throughout my years of playing, I've seen DAMN amazing roys, marths, fox's, falco's -_-; (he's still gay as hell), mewtwo's, samus's, links, etc etc etc all what I would consider tourney material.

The cheapness of characters is how you play them, I went to the mall the other day, and proceeded to shame an entire pack of people who were some of the cheapest I've ever seen. They would litterally just edge camp, and grab ledges to make sure the other opponent couldn't get back on, which I thought was personally sad, so I introduced them to a brand new world of top-screen deaths from the middle of the screen ^_^ without ledge camping. I'd actually wait for them to come back onto the platform :P

Melee was full of openings for all character types, and I never really found balance to be much of an issues. The fast characters died really easily, the slow ones hit like a truck, it worked :P Brawl is just... ug... not good, at least not to me.

Ok maybe on the opening scene you can tell >_> but side by side durring gameplay and they aren't terribly different :/ I honestly did have to look fairly hard to tell the difference in the mall, but to be fair, melee was on a 17 inch screen while the others looked to be on 32-40. So maybe that contributes lol.

From 0 to KICKASS in .stupid seconds.

it really is no contest

What more can be said?

The people have spoken and it's definitely Brawl.

brawl pretty much beats melee in everyway, single player campaign, character count, maps, and more options like create your own map

Honestly, it depends on what u mean by "better".

Music, graphics, character/map count? It would be brawl.

If your talking about sales? it would be brawl.

If your talking about which one is more competitive? Melee.

But since MOST old melee vets are moving on to brawl, theres no point in arguing it. melee is a sinking ship, accept it.

I still play Brawl every now and then

As for Melee...ehh, I don't think I can find myself getting back into it. Maybe just for the nostalgia.

brawl has sonic.

brawl wins :)

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

I like both games. I liked Melee alot but after playing Brawl, I don't feel like playing Melee much now... Could be because there are more characters and the music is awesome, and so are the stages... although a few bugs in Brawl Bug me...
