Are you kidding me? I mean were talking what 3-4 years from now and they still won't be able to put out a console that can display 1080i/p resolution? How lazy are they? Would be unacceptable in my book

You do realise that this is just a hypothetical question?

Yea i realize its a hypothetical question, i'm just blown away at the suggestion of it even happening. It's like saying what if MS stuck with DVD technology as its media storage format for its next system in 3 years?

I've had a 1080p 57 inch for over 2 years now, i know thats not the norm but more and more people are getting high def tv's, how hard is it to put an output resolution into a machine of 1080i/p and not just 720p?

Which looks better Quake 3 Arena @1080p or Call of Duty 4 @720p?

When you're trying to produce a videogame console one of the most important things for its success (and your company's success) is to keep the research and development costs (and manufacturing costs) to a reasonable level. Being that the difference in visual quality between 720p and 1080p is very minor it is one of the places that it makes the most sense to cut in order to keep costs at a reasonable level.

What percentage of 360/PS3 games actually run at 1080p??

720p would be more then enough for the Wii 2

720p with a very solid framerate (60fps) is enough. A good memory for the textures.

Long as they have an internal scaling chip that is as good as the 360's (gets rid of those damned jaggies), i'll be fine with whatever actual number of pixels they shove out there

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.

Quit an unfair comparison, your comparing an old as hell game to one released less then a year and a half ago.

Again Nintendo has absolutely 0 reason to put out a machine without 1080i/p capability. You sight R&D costs but High Def Resolutions have been around for quite some time now and will be even older years down the road when this is released. They should have 0 R&D costs when it comes to researching 1080i/p over 720p.

Had to change my sig to get some moderator to quit bitching about it......

Why would they do that? This gen has proved that no one cares about that.

Quem disse que a boca é tua?

Qual é, Dadinho...?

Dadinho é o caralho! Meu nome agora é Zé Pequeno!

1080p would be nice, but it doesn't matter to much to me.

Nintendo still doomed?
Feel free to add me on 3DS or Switch! (PM me if you do ^-^)
Nintendo ID: Mako91                  3DS code: 4167-4543-6089

That would be fine, but 1080p would be nice.
Doesn't really matter though.

I am personally interested in whatever technology they use to reach their performance and packaging requirements. The technology and design of the Wii HD will be interesting because above all else it must be power efficient. Theres the fact that they will probably need to use a conventional architecture for the GPU for the first time and that makes me wonder if they will use something like an all AMD system with what is essentially a tweaked laptop CPU+GPU combination.

Its unfortunate that car journalists will give a 10 page brief to some me-too sports car but barely spend 3 pages on the technology inside the most important car in the world, the Corolla where 100x the people will buy and use the vehicle. In a way Nintendo is following the lead of other Japanese companies in that real people, your typical every day people are important to them and you can see it in the care they put into their "boring" car ranges.

Tease.
