Forums - Gaming - Is Super Smash Bros Brawl the most overrated fighting game of all time?

People who don't like Brawl or the super smash bros. series all together aren't real gamers. Appreciating good games is rule 1 of being a true gamer.

So real gamers enjoy every single game ever released? Your statement is quite hypocritical for a person who doesn't own a single non-Nintendo game console. Real gamers appreciate good games regardless of their platform's brandname.

Oh man, you nintendo-fans are so funny. :) I don't like brawl but I am a real gamer! I play games!

No, and it makes me laugh how people think that because they don't have a "Dial-a-combo" scheme the game only has 9 moves per character... it's like saying that in any FPS you only have three moves: "move around", "aim" and "shoot"
If you don't understand the game or its depth, refrain from commenting, you only make yourself look like a fool

Listen to the voice of reason, then do as I say.

No, I don't think Brawl is over-rated! It's pure fun that is accesible but has a learning curve once you get better.

People whining about only 9 moves per character should shut up because it works just fine! You don't have to train like 3 years to get the hang of it.

Oh; as for an overrated fighting game; Soul Calibur! Great game but how the game scores 9's is beyond me!

Sorry but that's really how your comments come accross.I think Smash Bros. is repetative, shallow and poorly balanced and I'm perfectly free to say it.

PS. I love seeing people do nothing but criticize games I like (God of War) in an attempt to defend Smash Bros.

No, there are a lot of things you could criticise about smash, graphics, seriousness, lack of HP, learning curve, not "real" enough, etc.

But criticising smash because of it's depth it's like criticising street fighter because it didn't have 100+ combos per fighter like tekken (I LOVE both games)

I'm just saying there is a lot more to this game mechanics than using one of the 9 moves

You guys do realize that as far as this site goes (if this thread is anything to go by); that Brawl isn't overrated right?

@OP Is the Wii overrated?

Also the many responses seem to resonate one thing, Brawl is a great game but Melee was better.

As far as my list of fighting games that were fun goes it's

Marvel vs Capcom series(ARCADE this includes Xmen vs Street Fighter and Marvel Super Heroes) > Smash Bros series > Everything else thats a fighter

@bouzane
Brawl is fan service, duh!? Every news journalist emphasized and relished that point, it's fan service, I'm sure wiki explains what 'fan service' it catering to the fans by the way.

I'm Unamerica and you can too.

Perhaps I'm wrong to criticize Smash Bros. for being "shallow" but I just never found them to keep my interest for very long. I always played them like I would play a beat 'em up game like the Streeats of Rage while everybody else would play for hours like Virtua Fighter or Street Fighter but that was never for me.

That's cool mate, Everybody it's entitled to have a different taste when it comes to gaming, I for one rarely enjoy FPS, to me it's too much of the same (move, aim shoot) just getting faster and faster I generally finish the story mode, cheating if needed be, and then they just sit there collecting dust (notable exceptions: Goldeneye and Perfect Dark)... however, when I see some Quake III Arena deathmatch vids... I'd have to be blind to call that shallow
