I don't think SSBB is overrated, but I don't think is a fighting game neither, I mean, games like Smash Bros. or Power Stone are more party games than fighting games for me...

thats because you don't know anything about the competitive side of the game....go to a tourney and then say it's not a fighting game.  but, i can see why casuals would think it's a party game

Whoa, it's difficult for my to reply this in english xD, I'll try:

@chriscox1121: I actually know about the depth of the game but Smash Bros. was meant to be played as a party game not as a "serious" fighting game like Virtua Fighter, even if you play SSB en Final Destination without items.

And don't get me wrong, I love Smash Brothers I've played them all with my friends since N64 times and are funny as hell.

sakuria didn't really want any of his games competitive, but the players made it that way...they found advance techs to make the game be competitive.....if memory serves me correct...melee had one of the biggest turnout of MLG

this, this person actually played smash 64 and knows what the series is about..competetive WITHIN the limits of the game's desing..

melee was rushed and had alot of bugs and half thought through isseus..resulting in a VERY imbalanced character roster, copied characters and WAVEDASHING?!?!!? WTF?! BS...sorry

I'd go as far as to say that Brawl is one of the most overrated games of all time regardless of genre. I think that if you removed the Nintendo characters and replaced them with stick figures the sales would drop by 95% and the review scores would drop below 80%. I just don't understand the appeal of the franchise at all, but then again, I never really liked beat 'em up games all that much.

LOL!!!!!

EDIT: id would say that if GOW was NOT a sony franchise you probably wouldnt care about it as much

I'd go as far as to say that God of War is one of the most overrated games of all time regardless of genre.  I'd still enjoy the gameplay of GoW without Kratos and that's more than I can say about Smash Bros. Nice try though.

Ha. I take it you didn't play Heavenly Sword?

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

actually I would truly love the series even without the nintendo characters, it's the battle system that I love, items and stages

right now acting as if it all weren't nintendo content

making it nintendo characters makes it even better actually and adds to the collectables and the music..but..well

as they all showed smash bros' own music is great too..so even I am not too sure

and if you wanna find out if it's just the nintendo name:

TMNT for Wii will be coming out, hopefully having the same fighting system
using a brand name that SUCKS in gaming, but using a battle system that's good

we'll see

Nope but its highly underappreciated.

Getting an XBOX One for me is like being in a bad relationship but staying together because we have kids. XBone we have 20000+ achievement points, 2+ years of XBL Gold and 20000+ MS points. I think its best we stay together if only for the MS points.

Nintendo Treehouse is what happens when a publisher is confident and proud of its games and doesn't need to show CGI lies for five minutes.

I don't like Sony and I criticize them often. I also dislike the PS3 and I criticize it often. My enjoyment of GoW has nothing to do with brand name and everything to do with the highly enjoyable combat.

I'm glad that you enjoy Smash Bros for the gameplay which is what truly matters in a game. However, I am willing to bet that TMNT will do poorly without the Nintendo brandname. I may be wrong but only time will tell.

@Arius Dion

I never bothered to rent Heavenly Sword after I played the demo. I didn't really enjoy the combat system and that's what I care the most about.
