I'm going to agree with BengaBenga by the time tales gets released in my country I most likely wont care for it since I got hyped when all you americans were hyped lol. It was the same with brawl. I enjoyed the game, but it was tarnished by the long delayed release.
Delayed releases are a problem because of the proliferation of the internet as everyone gets excied at the same time now. I understand that games need to be translated but my country is an English speaking country so it shouldn't be a problem.
TALES..... OF..... ZELDA!!!!!!! It might sound crazy but nintendo let square put mario in a turn based rpg and it was a huge success. Loz is already almost a rpg and anyone who can play smash should be able to use the tales battle system so I dont think nintendo is risking angering fans. Link is also losing popularity in japan and being it a AAA JRPG could give him a huge boost in the land of the rising sun.
Welcome on VGChartz, Lotsaspaghetti!
I don't think that would work... In Japan, Tales sells less than Zelda, so I wouldn't expect a boost there. Anyways, such a crossover would maybe start a new franchise, but I don't think it would help the Tales franchise much.
Destiny 2 did 800k in japan while tp only did about 600k. Plus i think namco might be afraid to commit ad money to something that is relatively unproven in the west, with a marquee name though it would seem like a less risky endeavor.
You have to look at current numbers of Tales games in Japan. The Tales games on the DS ToS2 and ToV all ended at sales around 250k.
I have never played a ds tales game so i cant really comment on that, but as for vesperia the 360 has
had no luck selling any rpgs in japan. Dotnw was a mediocrely reviewed(unfairly) low budget spin off

But since that was more of a personal opinion I'll let that go. Also, Ratatosk Emil is BADASS. As for 6, I was thinking something similar when playing DotNW. DotNW's cutscenes are a step in the right direction. It was no longer just simple animations, they actually moved, and there was some sword fights, etc. I really liked the motion capture, but to me it seemed a bit too normal. I wish they'd use KH animation to make some awesome scenes. |
I doubt Emil is the reason for anyone to play through ToS2. It's a combination of Tales fans wanting fanservice (ex. FF fans for Dissidia) and the RPG drought of all consoles.

In 7 I mean little kids. Like, KAROL little. Or that new little girl character from Star Ocean 4.
As in, voices so high it melts the internal organs of small creatures and breaks a few civil laws.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

Little kids in JRPG tend to be pretty annoying so I see the point. Most people don't really have a problem with teenagers in their games unless they are cookie cutter and/or unlikeable. That's why you don't see people complaining that KH, Persona 3&4, and TWEWY have main characters in their teens.
