I'm looking to finally start digging into the Virtual Console, but I'm a little apprehensive.  Have you ever been so excited to go back and play a game from your past or watch movie from your past and then realized afterwards that your memory of the game/movie was much better than the reality?  In my mind, I'm unbelievably excited to play some of my favorite games from my youth with a nice up-res.  I'm just concerned that nostalgia is getting the best of me.  Anyone here regretting VC purchases or is it everything you've hoped for and more?  Do the older games look nice on a HDTV?

A few of the games I'm looking forward to the most are Mario 64, Super Mario Bros., Mario 3, Wave Race 64, Castlevania 4 and Punch-Out.

Zelda Oot (I know, blasphemy), Starfox 64, Bonk's Adventure, and the original Legend of Zelda were big let downs to me. Memory =/= Reality.

Funny you should mention Bonk.  I have these fantastic memories of my TG-16 and TG-CD, but I'm certain that they far exceed the reality.

Never owned a Nintendo console before th GC so I downloaded SMB3. Didn't like it. Preferred Wonderboy on the Master System.

I do regret some VC purchases, yeah. But that's because a few of my friends spent the Wii points I had on some random games they thought would be funny, without asking me. :(
Those games would be Kid Icarus, Megaman, Street Fighter 2, and Dungeon Explorer (at least I think that's what the game's called). They also bought Gunstar Heroes, which is actually quite sweet, and some Kirby game (can't recall which one) that's also nice. O yeah, and Sin and Punishment, they also bought that one. Man that game stinks, nothing like what I'd been expecting, totally over-hyped, major letdown.
