i always like your point of view mm2 especially the boxing match comparison

i started thinking this way to that it's between 360 and ps3 wen a game store worker told me that the wii is for little kids they are the majority of the wii's sales and wen there was an article saying something like the wii is not a game console it's a toy

Hate to break it to all you nerds.

Your PS3 is a toy.

Your 360 is a toy.

Your Wii is a toy.

Video games and consoles are toys.  Nothing wrong with that.

Also that game store clerk doesn't decide diddly squat in the video game industry.

i didn't come up with the article stating that the wii was a toy

store clerks should have a pretty good idea who is buying each console im mean he sees who purchasing it

do you not think that the majority of wii owners are under 12 years old

So you don’t wish the PS3 sold to that demographic? Well Sony sure wants that as does MS!

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

no i would rather prefer sony to focus more on the M rating games yeah i know that this demographic is not a s big as the E rated games or 12 and under

but wat mm2 and i are trying to say is that ps3 and 360 are the big guns like ali or tyson and wii is just the ref "the nintendo wii is never taken into consideration" b/c to who it massively appeals to

You know there was a time when Nintendo appealing to children didn't make you uncomfortable playing it. What happened

Wow cool you guys are so you know “big boys”. Now I am 25 and most of my mates who own a Wii are over 20. You wouldn’t say what you are saying now if PS3 was on top. You guys like to spin things so it sounds good to you but it doesn’t work that way. The Wii is moping(sp?) the floor with them both and that is the truth just accept it, it will be easier for you to live your life trust me.

lol

A few years ago a milestone was passed where the average age of a videogame player was over 30 years old, and being that (by your own admission) "Mature" games didn't sell as well as Teen or Everyone rated games what does that tell you about what the typical adult gamer desires?

Where Sony and Microsoft screwed up in this generation was they didn't account for a demographic shift from the previous generation, where most adult gamers went from being single or DINKS (dual income no kids) to being parents of young children. Many of these gamers values changed, and having the latest and greatest graphics or the most "Mature" content became less important than being able to play a game with your child.

Now, the argument that the Wii shouldn't be included in the "Console War" because they took a different approach could just as easily be rephrased that "The only gamers who count are 15 to 25 year old males! Its unfair that the Wii is popular with people outside of this demographic!"
