Forums - Nintendo - Wii killing video games?

Wow... I really can't believe any sane person would believe "Teh Wii is killing teh industry" If you mean high production costs of games on 360 and PS3 which has been bankrupting developers that make GOOD GAMES then yes there is something killing the industry and it's not the Wii it's the price of technology, some companies are dying after having one bombed major title, it's awful...

So what's really destroying the industry? Better yet I'll pose it like this, developers and their games are what make the industry, anything that threatens to shut them down is truly killing the industry... for Christ's sakes people read a book on business and economics... if a few shovelware titles would kill the video game industry it would have died as soon as it took off...

some consoles arent for everyone

come on, is gaming so weak and fragile that a small weak console like wii (according to the article) can destroy it? if yes then gaming does not deserve saving :P

well it is true some of what he said.

But why would you spend more money making a HD game when you could just make a SD game for the wii which has more console sales.

Devs could make the games so much better on PS360 than Wii. And he's right about how the Wii is holding Zelda back, it could do so much more on a PS3.

You are soooo right.....I always wanted a chance to be able to stare into Link's pretty blue eyes ;). Believe me, I know HD is the future and all, but the reality is that both what Nintendo is doing and what Sony and Microsoft are doing is important for the survival of the video game industry.

The only difference is that Nintendo and Sony/Microsoft chose two different paths on what to follow on first.....it just so happens that everybody (the general public) liked what Nintendo did while the conservatives (those who only want the HD consoles for whatever reason) decided to side with the HD consoles and some are baffled at what is happening.

OT: Like I stated above, nobody is doing anything wrong here....both paths, HD graphics and motion controls, are good paths and were bound to be both chosen by all three companies sooner or later.

It just so happens that Nintendo made the right decision while the others are struggling due to their decisions. These things happen, so there is no need for a whine fest as to why this happen, what could of happened or what should of happened. All we can do now is just look at the results, analyze them, and predict what game will come to what system.

This is just my two cents to this topic, so take it as you like...
