Nintendo Trusts Their Users, Goes Above And Beyond

Nintendo, apparently forgetting that they are a large corporation, went out of their way to make sure all the variables that caused John's Wii to glitch were addressed. Read his full letter inside.

I just wanted to write to you about my dealings with Nintendo Customer Service. I've had a Wii for 2 years now and had my first problem with it about a month ago. When playing a game, specifically Resident Evil 4, green digital artifacts would show on the screen. It was also happening with Guitar Hero World Tour. I wen to the Nintendo website, looked up my serial number, and was informed that it was out of warranty(which I expected) and I would have to pay $75 for it to be fixed. I decided to call the customer service number and see if anything else could be done. I spoke to a very friendly woman who was in California. She looked up my serial number and informed me that it was, in fact, "still under warranty" and promptly took down the problem and e-mailed me a printable Fedex shipping label. I sent off the Wii and anxiously awaited its return. the next week my Wii came back, and on the paper detailing the repairs, it stated that they were not able to duplicate the problem. "Oh great" I thought to myself, but upon further reading I discovered that they had replaced the motherboard because it was the "suspected cause" of the problem, and also sent me 2 brand new copies of Resident Evil 4 and Guitar Hero World Tour, all at no cost. For my 2 year old Wii, I would say this is above and beyond the call of duty and wanted others to know.

its nice to see that the Big N is not being greedy bastards with their Money.

End of 2009 Predictions (Set, January 1st 2009)

Wii- 72 million   3rd Year Peak, better slate of releases

360- 37 million   Should trend down slightly after 3rd year peak

PS3- 29 million  Sales should pick up next year, 3rd year peak and price cut

Nice, but when the Blu-ray player in my PS3 broke, Sony was nice enough to offer me a "limited low price" of only $189.24 to repair it. I would say this is above and beyond the call of duty and wanted others to know.

I remember hearing of a pretty common problem near when the Wii first launched of green artifacts on screen and it had nothing to do with cables if I remember correctly.

Yep, Nintendo did the same thing for me last year. They couldn't replicate my problem (none of my Gamecube games would work) but they sent me a new Wii with all of my saved data still on it. Their customer service is great.

Nintendo has the best customer service Iv ever dealt with.

Yeah customer service wise nintendo is really good. I call them bout my gamecube controllers and explain the problem. They said they would look at it and didnt even ask me about the warranty and this was a few months ago. They ask me to put them both in a box and a ups person would come to pick it up the the next day of i live in WA so that made it quicker. The ups guy came the next day as told and ask me to sign something meaning nintendo was paying for the shipping and handling and took the box. My controller came back 2 days later with a letter stating once was fixable and was fixed. The other was and gave me a new controller all this at no charge to me. Gotta love nintendo customer service.

I TAKE NO SIDES

Nintendo mailed me a free 72-pin connector to repair my broken NES in 2003 or 2004. They actually still had 72-pin connectors, and they thanked me for supporting their products for this long. Nintendo has the best customer service I've ever dealt with. I am honored to give them all my money.

Yeah, Nintendo has a very friendly customer service.
Sam's Club had me on hold for 10 minutes when I asked them for Super Mario Galaxy. And Wal-Mart hung up on me after 10 minutes of waiting! >:(

I wonder what he did with the extra copies of the games.
