Yeah, I need gritty characters like Lark and Robin. Gonna load up that human cannonball and blast a cap right in Mount Rushmore's face!
Sorry, I just...Pilotwings 64 is about as harmless as a Nintendo game has ever been (not to mention goofy).
I'd say that Pilotwings is a great bridge game. I thought Pilotwings 64 would be a good way to get non-gamers into videogames ever since I first played it - but now I see that the controller (and perhaps the stigma of "games are for kids") was holding it back.
Thats interesting. but at the same time, I would personally never want to play pilotwings on the balance board. I think it would frusterate the ever-loving F outta me.

I've barely played the SNES version, but the N64 version changed quite a lot from the SNES version as far as I can remember - different vehicles, and the instructors were replaced with different playable characters. I personally found the N64 version much more engaging thanks to the 3D graphics. One of my most memorable moments on N64 was the first time I went hangliding down the narrow ravine in PW64.
^ and I think there was some kinda storyline with the first one, at the end you did some military thing or something right?

I believe the Factor 5 Pilotwings rumor was prominent enough to get posted on Factor 5's Wiki page, and as something that had been confirmed to already be canceled:
However, in one of the last Nintendo Minute columns IGN did before the holidays, whatshername (i totally forgot it) did say that surprises were in store for early 09

huh? If we believe the information from us? thats stupid
Pilotwings is awesome, its def. hardcore. Just try and do the skydiving challenges on the snes version.
You would control the BB maybe like foot pedals for a plane or left/right steer or turning for other sports. You could do anything with them, check out that Mirrors Edge video with the BB for eg.
“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.
I've been pumped for a PilotWiings ever since they almost put that airplane game in Wii Sports before they scrapped it (but they did keep the island for jogging around on Wii Fit).
I thought this game would be perfect for the remote, but remote AND balance board, and all I can say is "wowee zowee." I want it bad.
And I think this would be one of the best games ever to use Miis, so I could put myself in the damn rocket belt like I've always dreamed of.
