Forums - Microsoft - So, MS seems to still be dicking me around, can I get anything out of it?

@damndl0ser

I think there is a limit to the amount of time you can do the 1-Month trial. From what I heard the new models allow you to use it up to 3 times, earlier this week being #3 just so my girlfriend can play a game with me on a system I already paid Gold status for.

For the record, I do not hate LIVE. I hate the subscription fee and the fact that if my girlfriend wants to play co-op with me online I would need to pay twice for the same console.

I think that is a more than fair complaint.

I see I myself helped in making this thread go off-topic. The main issue here is still the fact that my account is set up for auto-renewal.

Still no response yet though on whether or not LIVE Card users XBox.com accounts say "renewal on" or "expires on".

I guess you missed mine a few pages back. Mine has an expiration date and says, "No set renewal."

In other words what Nightsurge was hoping won't happen seeing as how my account says "Renews on Jan. 1st, 2009".

*sigh*

Thanks.

Last response from me, I have already drug this out longer than I should have.

I am sure you may have some grief with Live.  But I have dealt with Live a few times and every time I have talked to them it has been very easy and strait forward for me.  I had my xbox 360 trouble shot and ready to be replaced in less than 30 minutes.  Sorry for your problems but it just seems like your making a bigger deal out of this than you have to.

Maybe I am, but nobody should be happy with the hoops they have to jump in order to cancel an account. 1Month credit card payment option should work just the same as it would if I used a card, simple as that. I didn't ask for an auto-renewal, plus it said nothing on my XBox about having it set up that way when I paid for it. Unless I missed it.

When I cancelled my T-Mobile account it was 1-2-3. When I cancelled my Netflix the first time it was 1-2-3. With this it isn't 1-2-3, more like 1-2-3 phone calls.

I don't really agree. I've heard that a lot of people have trouble cancelling Live Gold, though it's generally just been the customer service person trying to convince the customer not to cancel. The fact that you can sign up so easily through your console but have to actually call up to cancel is quite some bullshit, and I'd certainly be ill if I were in Euphoria's shoes. That's why I've only ever used subscription cards.

Even though this won't happen to me (I hope), a good example is what happened with my friend and his Sprint phone. He had it set up for auto-payment each month and in November he was out of a job and with rent and everything else his bank account was dipping fast. He decided to call up and cancel his phone plan.

Anyways to make a long story short he made the call and he was told (after them trying to convince him otherwise of course) all was taken care of. His account was billed the next month for around $100 and he did not have that in his account, he didn't think he had to, he made the call and was told they cancelled the account. Now his account overdrafted, he had no idea and he was stuck paying for it because his bank are a bunch of assholes along with Sprint. He had to go through even more hoops just to get his credit and bank situation sorted out.

He shouldn't have to constantly check his account to see if they did their job, just as I shouldn't have had to either, once I made that first call everything should have been taken care of, especially considering the fact they told me that they cancelled it for me and I was good to go. Why should I have to consistently check my Xbox.com account? Why should I have to call 2-3 maybe 4 times? If I want to give them money however, they do it right then and there, but want to take your payments back, be prepared.

Misleading, thread should be retitled I hate Xbox Live.

I have to agree with ya, there is a lot of hate here.

Well, before you or the other try to label this as a misleading thread title you should try and read the OP. If not for this I would have no actual reason to hate them as much as I do, but hey, if you like getting dicked around like I have or by chance feel it is ok (I know no clue as to why you would) then so be it, that is your prerogative.

How about instead of posting something like you just did you could contribute to the thread? Now that my friend would be a novel idea.

Come on fellow, I was just saying there is a lot of hate here.  So tell me I was wrong?  The biggest thing I can do to help this thread along or you for that matter would be to inform you the time you spent here bitching could have been on the phone with tech support.  Your troubles would be over already.  Cheers.

I would like to know though how my troubles would be over. I have made 2 calls already, within a 24 hour period and I have 2 claim numbers to prove that. The operator the first time told me "Ok, we changed it to renew on the 1st of January". I promptly said "Huh?", he realized his error and said it was fixed.

Second time I called I went through pretty much the same thing as the first time but now they sent me to billing (why different outcomes for the same issue?) and instead of cancelling they first asked me to

#1. Upgrade to 12-Month Gold status. Huh?! I want to cancel, why would I want to buy a 12-Month?

#2. Ask for a friend or family member to pick up my subscription so I wouldn't need to cancel. Again, huh?!

#3. Told me everything was good now, credit cards removed from account and auto-renewal shut off, saying it should be reflected on my account. Guess what, credit cards are still on there and my account info remains unchanged.

What makes me think the 3rd time will be the charm? I wanted to know if I waited to call them after I was charged (which I know I will) if i would get any compensation, which in my case I should. My time and my money is more important to me than MS and their bogus renewal and hoop after hoop cancellation steps.

How many times do I need to call? Almost an hour and a half worth of waiting and transfers from department to department is ridiculous. Enough is enough.

Dude look. Next time you call. You have that machine turned on. And when they tell you things are sorted you tell them to hold on and then you refresh the page, and if it's not sorted you give em hell! And you make sure they sort that shit out ! This is ... ya ok that ones old....  but i gotta do it.. CUSTOMA SERVAZE!!!!

Check out my game about moles ^

Hmm, I'd bet anything that this thread topic is bogus.

MS has always been pretty easy to deal with for me, and if they charge you, anyone with a credit card know that all you have to do is contest the charge with your credit card company (takes about 5 minutes on the phone). Without a physical signature, you always get your money back on your card immediately, and the burden of proof is on the charger, which without an authorizing signature is impossible.

Why is this so hard for you?
