one things its they managed to gets ads into a paid service.

Shouldn't the ads give them enough money?

@Nightsurge

Sorry for putting it in there wrong, but the one who made the comment is a gamer.

Also, only game I remember paying for on PS2 was FFXI and I skipped that game entirely. Starcraft was free, Diablo was free, Guildwars was free as well.

Still not sorted this shit out? Wow , And yes people pay premium for No ads. So M$ have the subs giving them money and the ads!

This is what you do if you dont want to get charged, go to Account management and Edit your credit card information, change the expiration date of your credit card to the last day you want to use xbox live or just just make up a credit card number, this should do it

Someone needs to do an investigation to see just how much it costs Sony and Microsoft to host and maintain PSN and Live. Then go about seeing how much each makes off of the service as a whole, and the service downloads, etc.

I'm sure MS makes a lot of money off of Live, but I have a feeling that the PSN doesn't make much at all after everything is taken into account, so what is good for Sony's consumers, is bad for Sony Corp.

If MS makes enough off of downloads and games and stuff to justify it being free and just have ads, I would then demand Live go free as long as quality is maintained.

I still do not understand why anyone would pay for a single month when you can receive a free monthly trial atleast 5 different times before they start making you pay. All that is required is a different email address and some basic infos, my buddy has done this atleast 5 times.

I would imagine either you pissed one of the operators off, or the computers were down and they gave you the run around. Yes it is shitty, but that happens EVERYWHERE, not just on live. When these large companies farm out their customer support to India, this always seems to happen.

Your best bet is to make that call again, because if you ever do intend on coming back to live or selling your 360 in the future it is better to stop a problem now (when it is easy) than deal with something worse down the line. And I am certain they won't give you anything for your inconvienance, except an apology. If they handed out live points for pissed off customers, people would be calling them 24/7 if they were wronged or not.

For paragraph #1.

Maybe I like my gamerscore?

For paragraph #2.

It isn't possible that they are just dumb? I was very nice with them and after the first call I thought everything was perfect, I had great customer service, they were nice, etc...

Paragraph #3.

I will indeed call again, only to express my disgust in my 1 month endevour to get this sorted out. I have never been vocal with customer support and to be honest I probably won't here either, I just can't bring myself down to that level even if I say I will.

If I wind up selling my 360, which I will not, it is ok since I enjoy my PS3 majority of the time and honestly I think the games on there are much better, I have only played the first 7 chapters of Valkyria Chronicles and I can honestly say it is by far the best JRPG/SRPG (whatever) I have played this gen, hands down. I kick LO to the curb. Not saying LO is bad, it is just that it doesn't even come close for me.

Another thing I do not like is that if I want my girlfriend to play Castle Crashers with me online WHY THE FUCK do I need to pay for online again? Seriously, $50 per player?  Go fuck off Microsoft.

How anyone supports pay per account instead of pay per console is beyond me.

You can keep the trial account after the first month as long as you pay for the service.  In which case your score would remain intact.   And like you stated above you wanted to "try it out" so to me that made me think that you had no gamer score.  So I still do not understand the need to pay for it.  I am not trying to say your an idiot or anything like that, I was just wondering.  So don't take offense to it.

You think live is bad try talking to those dumbass's over at dishnetwork.  They have the absolute worst phone service known to man, and that is the reason I switched over to  Directv.  So just stick with your PS3 and then your troubles are behind you.  CHEERS!

Think of it this way, suppose I have 3 friends who don't have a 360 and want to play a game with me online, I need to shell out anywhere from $32 for 1 month or $200 for 1 year just so they can play with me?

I know people say "$50 is nothing for 1 year", but look at it in my situation, it is nothing more than a god damn rip-off, which is why I get so angered with this current renewal situation and why I prefer my PS3 for online.

Unless of course there are no games that support 2-4 player online with 1 console other than Castle Crashers.

Well, most online enabled Xbox 360 games offer guests to play.  Most multiplayer online games do, at least.  Perhaps not the XBLA games.... I've never tried Castle Crashers and guests so I can't say.

Does it allow a guest in GeoW?

Anyways a smart person I know personally recently said this to me in regards to MS charging for online with the XBox360.

"Hmm, yeah I enjoy spending money for online when I already pay Cablevision for it in the first place... doesn't make much sense to me. When is Apple, HP, Gateway, etc going to start charging us for our computers to be able to use the internet? It's the same thing isn't it? If they did that people would fucking flip but its okay for Microsoft."

Many non gamers share this view and makes me believe only the 360 userbase falls into this trap. If Sony was ever to impliment something like this, believe me I would never pay for that shit either. I already pay for my ability to use online, I shouldn't have to pay again.

Thinking on these lines, honestly I doubt I will be buying LIVE after I am finished with this situation. Just like I have been for the year or so before I grabbed the 1-month plan.

Not only that. Any pc gamer wouldn't take it either (well cept for mmo players possibly?)

That's also why i'll never pay for live ! I don't want to pay for something i already own. Its also a big reason i wont get a xbox either.

Misleading, thread should be retitled I hate Xbox Live.

Assuming the number I posted on my previous message is reasonable : 840'000'000 per year only with gold accounts subscription add to that huge advertising revenue and  they're doing quite a margin there.

For comparison, World of Warcraft servers cost about 120 million dollars a year for maintenance and new created content, and I don't see Live servers being much more costly.
