Forums - Gaming - Lets Talk: exclusives and more

K well it seems to me that when ever a game gets announced for a different console then the last one the game was on EVERYONE goes crazy. For example, the new Tekken was announced its not a ps3 exclsuive. And all those 360 fanboys went nuts. I'm guessing you never knew there was a tekken for the gba... Monster Hunter 3 on the wii? O MY....who cares? it will sell really well and it will be a selling point for the wii but honeslty, no1 can expect any title to stay exclusive forever unless its first party. Sorry for the rant, but i can't stand when people are like "OMG NO WAY ITS COMING TO A DIFFERENT CONSOLE." cause well it happens all the time! Any1 else agree with me that it's kinda redilcious to go crazy when something happens?
but o well, as soon as kojima makes his 2 new titles and one is for the 360 and the other the wii (most logical to me) all the nintendo and 360 fanboys will still mock the ps3 for "losing an exclusive title"....

True. Exclusive AAA titles are hard to do now.

Mostly becuase the ridiculous costs to make them make it unfeasible to be exclusive to any console and sell the required numbers to qualify as significant ROI to the developers and publishers.

The rest is what we call "marketing"... A way to make people believe that something is more special then it really is. How believable the "marketing" is, is directly porportional to your total sales result. Microsoft is doing an excellent job at marketing... Tekken 6, Final Fantasy, RE5, GTA, etc. all former exclusives somehow made more special because they now ship on 360. They didn't magically change into anything better because of 360... They are simply available on it.

Correct me if I'm wrong Gearbox, but weren't you one of the people going nuts when a PS3 exclusive went multiplat?

The reason why people go crazy on exclusives going multiplatform because most of those exclusives going multiplaform are prized system-selling exclusives. For example, Final Fantasy series was exclusive on the Playstation series for about 12 years. When it went multiplaform, it was a shock because nobody saw it coming. Especially because the next game in the series is going on Playstation rival console for the past two generations. Sometimes it doesn't matter where games go. However, if it is a monster exclusive, it is a huge problem.

A problem for who? The console manufacturer or the forum geek? All I see on these forums bitching is the forum geeks, no console manufacturers.

Do you think there was no fallout on Sony's end for FFXIII changing platforms?

Why would there be? Fallout was made by Interplay, and now by Bethesda. Final Fantasy is made by Square-Enix.

Rumor has it that they covered Kaz Hirai in honey and spanked him for three hours.

That's not what I was talking about. I was asking him who he meant by "it's a huge problem". Obviously it's a huge problem for Sony, but I don't see many Sony employees on here crying about it, just bitter customers.
