Theres no excuse for a company like MS that makes billions of dollars in profits (In Profits I tell you) to lay anyone off..... Not so long ago MS wanted to buy Yahoo for like $40billion.

Not evil just greedy. We all understand busineses that find it hard need to cutback, but not if your making more money a month than a third world nation does in a year. If the top bosses took a 20% pay cut it could save 5000 people.

Ok, this makes sense then.  Buy Yahoo, and then gut the departments you have that match up with what Yahoo has.

In regards to cuts, it would make sense Microsoft would consider some possible contraction.  We may also look at the next gen XBox console to get delayed awhile.  Sony does the same, and then Nintendo happens to jump in with the gadget controller and high def graphics.

I doubt the specifics to the rumors are true, but I expect them to do some 1st quarter preventative cuts on a smaller scale (just to play it safe going into the recession with less overhead).

And as one of our mods pointed out, the website claiming this is "Fudzilla"

Not exactly Forbes or Business Week.
