Forums - Sales - Microsoft getting ready to lay off 17% of staff

All companies are cutting back due to the economy... but 17% is a little extensive

Expect MS too announce some cutbacks (just like every other company) but nowhere near 17%

I hope this isn't true. If it is my mind goes out to the families who will now have a father out of work.

17% layoffs for a company that will still make billions is a bit extreme.

If they do miss earning and have layoffs, it will be nowhere near 17%.

Because women are chained to the kitchen table and only men have real jobs.

This. Having cutbacks right now is normal, but 17% seems a little bit too much. I'm gonna wait on this rumor until it's posted by a reliable source.

If it did I wouldnt be surprised, If toyota can report a loss after 71 years of profits.. clearly Microsoft is not immune. Which means software sales are crap- therefore hardware sales must be getting drier too.. HP, dell and Toshiba laying off staff too? possibly.. Not a good time for anyone.

Doubt is not a pleasant condition, but certainty is absurd.

5 THINGS I'd like to see before i knock out:

a. a AAA 3D sonic title

b. a nintendo developed game that has a "M rating"

c. redesgined PS controller

d. SEGA back in the console business

e. M$ out of the OS business

Not sure about the truthfulness of the article; I just wanted to point out that it is one of the poorest examples of "official writing" that I have ever come across. The grammatical/punctuation errors in the first paragraph are staggering.

Any cred this site may have had gets flushed away in the first sentence.

I bet that MS will announce some big profits and that the H/E division will be extremely profitable .

Everybody in the world except for Nintendo are laying off people. They said the gaming department is pretty safe because it is doing pretty well. Just has to do with the shitty economy status.
