The PS1 version was terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. Terrible past words, terrible past the edges of reason. |
Umm, why? I have it and it's perfect.

Seconded. Even though I own it I just couldn't get past the load times between battles I never was able to finish it again on PS. I even rather play it on rom >.>;
“When I was 5 years old, my mom always told me that happiness was the key to life. When I went to school, they asked me what I wanted to be when I grew up. I wrote down “happy.” They told me I didn’t understand the assignment and I told them they didn’t understand life." - author unknown

Then you never played the SNES or GBA versions. Staggering load times, not only for battles but even for pausing and going into the menu, combined with a lack of Mode 7 making it very muddy in the graphics department? It's a mess. A trrible, terrible mess.

Get that disc or lense cleaned up then.
As for lack of Mode 7, I didn't see any major differences on the "3d" scenes/piloting airship between the SNES rom which I have on my PC here and the PS1 version of the game.
Load times never bothered me too much.

The game was designed to played on a cart, when it was broad to the PSX it was terrible. FF 7-9 were designed with the PSX disc in mind, that is why although the load times in those games are annoying, they can be dealt with.
You do realize that load times, are the main reason Nintendo tried to stay with carts for so long. (the reason for handhelds is that, but mainly battery life)
