That's a shame. If comic-books had their own Nintendo-style rescue, we might be reading about Superman's Tea Partyz today instead. |
wait, has Nintendo flooded the market with Superman's Tea Partyz games yet??? Nintendo isn't responsible for the trash that 3rd parties produce, but they are responsible for creating both a system and games that people actually want (and pretty much an equal number of "hardcore" and "casual" games). Had Nintendo left the market, gaming would be doing horrible compared to previous generations, and we would be hearing a lot more 3rd parties anouncing they are going bankrupt than we are now.

Get your head out of your ass. I do actually mean to be that rude. That is not what Nintendo is doing. They are finding what gets more people into games. You have an anime avatar, which just makes you look even more ignorant for not bringing manga into here, and their demographics. |
Reported. Rudeness is uncalled for and you should know better by now.
Do you have a real point to make or just insults?

Nintendo has demonstrated that it is possible to lower quality standards and make a lot of money while doing so. They are not directly responsible for 3rd party content, but I would say they have, on some level, definitely lowered the bar to allow for it.
If the only two possibilities you foresee for the current generation were Nintendo doing what it currently is and Nintendo is going out of business, then I would encourage you to think a little harder. I do not think this generation could have gone any better for Nintendo as a company, but I wonder at what cost.

So should I report you for posting flaim bait? If you really spoke words of wisdom then you would think a little more before you type.

Look through the forum code of conduct and feel free to report me if you genuinely think I'm breaking it.
These days it seems as though any opinion not shared by all is looked upon harshly. LtNK was just very rude to me and yet you're asking if you should report me seemingly because we don't share the same opinion.
What has happened to vgChartz since my hiatus? It feels like there is so much more negativity here these days and it's depressing.
I admit to rude comments, but I had a point. It was the rest of the comment. The fact that I made an inappropriate insult does not magically make them not there, nor does it excuse you from addressing them. The fact that you are not, and acting as though they aren't there shows you can't address them.

No, I don't see only two scenarios, but I don't think in any other scenario that Microsoft and/or Sony would continue to build the industry the way the Wii has in terms of profitibility & sustainability.
Had Nintendo tried to keep up with Sony/Microsoft in the tech department, they would have had leave the industry after going bankrupt, or tried to sell a console at $600-800. Since Nintendo wasn't popular, they would get next to zero sales. Why buy a Nintendo product at $600 when all the popular games are on the PS3 for the same price?
Had they made the GC2, for $250 with a standard GC controller, then it would have been rejected by the masses to the same extent the GC had. They would have nothing new to bring to the table, and the competitors would be blowing them away in terms of reasons to upgrade (new tech, internet, etc...). Nintendo didn't need another console to scrape by with a tiny userbase, and they didn't want that either. Also, 3rd parties wouldn't be able to cash in on them, since their userbase would be so small. Sure Nintendo wouldn't be out of business, but the gaming bussiness as a whole would be hurting a lot worse then they are now.
In either of those two scenarios do you really think the X360 and PS3 would have picked up all the extra slack that not having the Wii would have created?
Also, Nintendo may have made a lot of money on cheap ($$$) games, but Only Wii Play, Wii Sports, and Mario Party 8 really come to mind as "cheap" (quality) games from Nintendo. 2 out of 3 of those came bundled with hardware, and the last is an established franchise. Wii Fit (excelent hardware, big risk, lots of potential with the BB), Wii Music (lots of musical effort put into this), and Mario Kart Wii (best online experience) may have been $$$ cheap, but are definitely not cheap quality.
@other post
baiting people into breaking the rules of conduct may not be spelled out in the rules, but to then go and complain about getting the reaction you were asking for is just childish.

I do. I wouldn't have made that comment if you hadn't made a comment known to set people off. The fact that I fell for it does not excuse you for baiting in the first place.

Maybe everyone else doesn't want to play the same games you do. Yushire may have finished those games already or they just don't interest him. Not hard to understand really, I have been in that same Wii boat for a long time now although I think I may now need to finally check out Fire Emblem. |
sure, everyone has a different taste, but coming in 2009 there are all types of games coming, RPGs, Shooters like Conduit and so on
btw, what kind "good news" is he waiting for?
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^

The old taunt a kid until they hit you, and then go tattle. This is clearly not an immature poster, and I'm not arguing his/her BS from here.
