Forums - Gaming - Does every Japanese Dev have a long running RPG series?

Yes, they do make Suikoden...and they still keep making it (Suikoden Tierkreis released last week). They do a better job with RPGs than any other company, I might add

To add more:

Atlus: Shin Megami Tensei
Nippon Ichi: Disgaea

I don't think they necessarily do a better job than the rest.  Banpresto, Atlus, Nippon Ichi, and Intelligent Systems all rank just as high if not higher.

Intelligents systems (Fire emblem, advance wars) is strategy RPG
Nippon Icchi (Disgaea, Phantom brave, Stella Deus ) strategy RPG
Atlus ( Shin megami Tensei) RPG (Growlanser (publisher)) Strategy RPG publisher of a lot of lesser known Japanese developers
BAnpresto (Summon night) RPG (Super Robot wars) Strategy RPG

Only two of these are mainstream RPG series and IMHO arguably Suikoden is much better although I like both Shin Megami and Summon night series.

In strategy RPG no one beats Intelligent systems (although my favorite game in this genre is tactics ogre (now defunct Quest)).

Edit: I agree all of them seem to have thier own series.

Actually, the Growlanser series is made by Working Designs.

I don't consider anything created last gen to be "long running." (sorry NIS)

Sega- Phantasy Star

Don't make me cry ;_;

Tecmo hasn't an long running RPG serie althought Radia Senki on Famicom is an incredible and rather obscure JRPG.

EDIT:

Also SNK althought they developed an RPG about Samurai Shodown for NeoGeo CD ( and other system ).

Nintendo also has Mario RPG's.
