Microsoft is different, they have almost no first party studio, and they are closing their best studio (Ensemble studio). That says that they are not interested by developping games. |
Ensemble has been a RTS only studio, in a time when RTS's are not a big part of console gaming. So keeping a separate studio didn't seem like sense to them. Saying it's there best studio is wrong also. Lionhead, Turn 10, and Rare are all good studios. Instead of people bitching if they played Viva Pinata, and the new Banjo they would change their tune

RTS on PC are videogames, even if this is not on consoles. Keeping alive Ensemble studio would have made a lot of sense, their games were successful on PC and they are developping a game for the Halo licence. So, Ensemble studio had the quality in their games , and had good sales , but Microsoft chooses to close it without a good reason. For me , Ensemble studio was the best Microsoft developer, but I could understand if you choose Lionhead instead. But for Rare, I hope you are joking. This is a shame that this studio, who finds no success on the xbox , is kept instead of Ensemble studio. I think that Microsoft is still hurt to have paid for more than 300 millions a studio that has no sales succes on their console, and which has not the quality expected.
