Forums - Gaming - Nintendo's Untapped Demographic

Now, one of the major demographics that hasn't been tapped by Nintendo would have to be the PS360 userbase. Now, I know many of you, including myself, own a PS3, 360, or both, but there are still many people who only own an HD console.

With more games going Wii exclusive and third party developers taking the Wii seriously, when do you believe that the PS360 fans who refuse to purchase a Wii will realize that they're missing out on a great library of games (For an example, see No More Heroes)

With those who have the money to own more than one console, a Wii and an HD console are definitely a must to fully enjoy this gaming generation.

Also, those of you who don't have a Wii, what would it take for you to purchase one?

Never, but some people are free to dream it will. As for me I prefer to stick with reality and the reality is that there are many games that go after the core 360 userbase coming out in the next two years and against which the Wii simply doesn't compare.

You can list The Conduit, Madworld (which might turn out to be a great game), and a few others but they simply don't compare to the mass amount of great games in the genres that appeal to many 360 gamers.

For an apathetic guy you sure know a lot about the Wii Legend...

Well strong online would be a start to approach the PS360 group, but the real reason 360 games attract 360 users I've been told is that 360 games are all action, you start off with something Epic and then it's "Go, go, go, go!" from there.

I'm sorry, but seriously, I don't really see the point of owning one right now. What games do you speak of that's going to the wii exclusively?

I've said this on another unrelated thread. The most untapped demographic there is, PC gaming. Now there is some enormous potential for the Wii to captivate many gamers from that world, given the different experiences you can get in the console that you simply cannot get on a PC (trust me, i have a high-end pc, so i know what im talking about ;) ).
One game that could turn that scenario into reality, will be if Blizzard decide to release Diablo 3 on console territory. Now we all know the PS1 Diablo fiasco, mainly because point and click action-rpg just don't cut it out on controller schematic.
Now imagine point and click action-rpg schematic in a wiimote schematic? see my point? if blizzard and nintendo get it right, the online of the wii enhanced to fit Blizzard's battle net like a glove, and tone the graphics for the wii (If we can get a Gem like Mario Galaxy, then Diablo 3 would be utterly awesome). then. IMHO. we would have a million seller for the ages, and a console mover :)

The Conduit, Mad World, Dragon Quest X, No More Heroes are just a few third party exclusives. And I honestly expect Kingdom Hearts 3 to be on the Wii aswell.

Edit: Monster Hunter Tri is also a Wii Exclusive.

Nintendo cannot possibly tap the PS360 userbase, and Nintendo knows it. The Wii can't provide Shinies(tm), and that's what the PS360 userbase wants. Besides, the Wii is about ending that demographic's dominance over gaming; getting them onboard would be counterproductive.

Complexity is not depth. Machismo is not maturity. Obsession is not dedication. Tedium is not challenge. Support gaming: support the Wii.

What do I hate about modern gaming? I hate tedium replacing challenge, complexity replacing depth, and domination replacing entertainment. I hate the outsourcing of mechanics to physics textbooks, art direction to photocopiers, and story to cheap Hollywood screenwriters. I hate the confusion of obsession with dedication, style with substance, new with gimmicky, old with obsolete, new with evolutionary, and old with time-tested.
There is much to hate about modern gaming. That is why I support the Wii.

Umm some hardcore PC gamers already bitch about the graphics on the 360 and PS3 so could you tell us what would attract them to such a pc-centric game like Diablo 3 going to the Wii?  Would it be massive reduction in resolution?  The dumbing down of the game's AI?  The friend codes of the Wii?  A reduction in the number of units that can be displayed onscreen at once?  I could go on but some people would think I'm trolling the Wii when I'm really just telling it like it is.

lol, besides Drangon QUEST X, you think those other games come close to the HD games we already have. It's not even fair.

Legend Pop-Cap games has more traffic than WoW which has more traffic than every high end PC game to date, also there is a reason Solitaire comes bundled with every Windows OS.
