alright, when the wii came out, most people were saying " it's just a fad, it'll wear off eventually" but fast forward 2 years later, the wii sales nearly double the Xbox360 sales despite the 360 being out a year first. The question is: Will it continue?

Of course it will continue. The Wii has set it's path, it will not waver from it too much, 100 million is guaranteed, over 200 million is certainly possible, the likelyhood is that it will eventually pass the PS2.

I think it will continue and even if it wouldn´t it already is a smashing succes.
Right now it looks like a juggernaut, unable to be stopped with word of mouth selling the consoles like hotcakes among the "casuals", more great games coming out for 2009 than perhaps any year before it, certainly thirdparty support from Japan is getting awesome, thus perhaps bringing in more "hardcoregamers".

I think Nintendo is the new king and Sony has been dethroned for good this generation. What is happening right now is total and utter worlddomination both hardware and software, both consoles and handhelds from the little company from Japan.

will I ever be an owner? unlikely

heck, Mac OS is far superior to Windows and yet it was grossly dominated. Does it make Windows great because it has 70-80% of market share?? Well, that's a truth you have to find out for yourself.

Sure, Nintendo won. Sony\Microsoft (oh, Sega?! ^_^) might be able to strike back in next gen, or - if 2 gen rule is correct - in 9th gen.

Oh come on.  Windows market share has been built through monopolistic practises.  Wii's share has not.  Work a little harder on your analogies.

my analogy applies on one the misunderstanding of "sales = quality/whether it makes a particular person want it" it has nothing to do with "monopolistic practice" or otherwise.

I think Sega are to happy about their gamesales on Wii to think about going back to competing with a platform of their own again.

2009 will be a very important year in the life of the Wii because it will see the release of Wii MotionPlus ... If Wii MotionPlus is well implemented and is well handled (by Nintendo and Third Party Publishers) its release could become a "DS Lite" moment and Wii sales could see a dramatic increase from their current level.
