lol...pretty arrogant there aren't we? PC works for people that have the elitist complex like you very well.

Regular users that are tech savy or have a little patience will also get their moneys worth out of PCs.

However normal people are much better off with consoles if all they want to do is play games.

I bought a video card few days ago and some RAM and it cost me about 200 bucks.

I discussed it in this thread...
http://www.vgchartz.com/forum/thread.php?id=54695

Since I've had Crysis crash and refuse to install...keeps rebooting my machine.

Similar to these problems below...
http://www.gamingnewslink.com/2007/11/15/fixes-for-crysis-errors-crashes-bugs-and-install-problems/

So don't pretend PC gaming is smooth sailing for everyone at all times.

my crysis crashes when i try to load or save a game.. pretty problematic concidering the length of the damn game.

Check out my game about moles ^

I was considering a long post, but I think rocketpig has hit the nail on the head.

It's interesting that people come into these threads and list overblown arguments against PC's and then yell that PC people are elitist bastards.

I hope you weren't directing that at my post. If you were, I'd be happy to take on any and all comers. I feel that my argument in this case isn't just my opinion, but the undeniable truth, in most cases, and indisputable. The reason is, on this subject, I'm speaking from a vast wealth of experience, rather than simple assumption and deduction, and as usual, my arguments contain true depth. Of course, there are those heroes, on this forum, that can challenge me, and I seek them out, but this is an argument that, as was previously mentioned, has been beaten to death largely by me personally. In fact, I've taken on the opposition, with this very argument, against quite a large number of angry PC fanboys(whom are proud of their elitism, fyi, and who don't see stating the obvious as an insult), and held my own. On a friendly forum, on home turf, I'd be formidable.

Complete honesty here, I'm a bit dissapointed nobody flamed me.

I don't need your console war.
It feeds the rich while it buries the poor.
You're power hungry, spinnin' stories, and bein' graphics whores.
I don't need your console war.

NO NO, NO NO NO.

There's no denying elitism in many PC people and how they discredit console gaming, but a similar elitism can be found in the opposite end with those who discredit PC gaming in the same fashion. This site has people who aren't elitist about their PC and console gaming that play on and understand the pro's and con's of both. I myself enjoy playing games on my consoles while maintaining and gaming on my PC as well. I have a problem with overblown arguments from both sides of the table.

You can quit beating your chest, oh great hero.

2 extremes in the first 2 posts. I am in the middle.

Raise your hand if you call tell the difference between: Upscaling softness, anisosotropic filtering, and texture resolution. If you cannot, then you're not qualified to determine the difference between the PC/PS3 Tomb Raider shots.

Recommended system requirements for current games (CPU):

Farcry 2:

Recommended
CPU:
Intel Core 2 Duo Family
AMD64 X2 5200+, AMD Phenom or better

Left 4 Dead:

Processor: Intel core 2 duo 2.4GHz

Saints Row 2:

Processor: 3.2 GHz Dual-Core Processor (Intel Core 2 Duo or AMD Athlon X2)

GTA IV:

Processor: Intel Core 2 QUAD @ 2.4 GHz/AMD Phenom X3 @ 2.1 GHz

Crysis Warhead:

Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO E7300 (2.66 GHz)

Race Drive: Grid:

Processor: Intel Core 2 DUO @ 2.66 GHz/AMD Athlon X2 3800+

World in Conflict:

Processor: Any Intel Core 2 DUO

Minimum price of a prebuilt system on Newegg which meets these CPU specifications: $370 + Shipping

Minimum price for a graphics card to meet these requirements: $80

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814161252

Likely Total incl shipping before tax: $480

Take it however you wish really. If you don't need to upgrade your system then its a total cost of $480 just to play games, if you do need to upgrade your system then the total cost is about $80 including the graphics card. Remember most people are fine with a 1.6ghz sempron on Windows XP.

More than 50% of new computer purchases are laptops IIRC. Low quality screens, low battery life and they get hot and uncomfortable if you game with them and they are hellishly expensive if you want that capability. So the comparison between a desktop and a console is becoming moot.

Tease.

Yes most of what was said is true but the simple fact is (for those who arnt paranoid about fbi breaking through there walls) yes consoles are cheaper but pcs you can go online find websites that you can download FREE dvd quality movies / new release games/ New release music and more, Also on pcs you have various other apps you can use aside from gaming, for one editing also you can blog Over all even if pcs can be more expensive they are well worth the price for the freedom they provide my 2 Cents

PC can have better graphics(sometimes by a long shot depending on the game and your hardware,) but consoles are fine, it's the game play that matters in the end, hell, I'm a PC gamer and I own a Wii lol. /shrug

The PC wins hands down. All the time. The PC is more of a pain to deal with and will also cost you more money in the long run. But I know the ins and outs of a computer and I get it to work for me, so its really a non issue but sometimes it can be just annoying. I agree for the general public its nice to just sit down and have it play. The only thing I hate about the console is that they try to make it look so good. For example some games on the 360 and PS3 I just wish I could lower the texture quality or even resolution (before scaling) just to make it smoother.
