Forums - Gaming - Entertainment Weekly's list of Best and Worst Games of 2008

Wow, this one is weird. Choosing Wii fit as the best game made me think that:

A: The guy was making his choice based on shockpotentional
B: On salesnumbers
C: innovativeness.

But then, he goes on to list Saints Row 2 as the worst? It's not a classic but at least it was balls to the wall fun and most of all, it worked! And it's neither good for shock-value, nor is it logical from a slaesperspective.

I'm thinking: 2008 release list and a few darts.

Hahahaha, I like it. It really speaks as to the different values that different segments of the market can have.

I'm going to go back to playing Gears, but I still like that they didn't include it.

Umm, so? Madden NFL 09 All-Play (the bolded being the very definition of "expanded") is below games like Braid, Grand Theft Auto 4, and LittleBigPlanet, which could all be considered core experiences. Why aren't you complaining about that? If the quality of games was decided by how much it expanded the gaming audience, the lists would be full of Nintendo and Ubisoft titles. And not necessarily good ones.

I do not think he means to say that expanded games are rated higher, here, he means to say that the perspective of the article is that of the mainstream gamer, rather than the core.

That list is...different.
