Forums - Nintendo - Apathy for the Wii

I just noticed that TC didn't even own a Wii ,he's Xbox360 owner.

So what's the point Xbox360 owner make a thread like this on Nintendo forum???

Can't you stay with what you love and leave other in peace?

He actually mentions that in his post. He usually avoids the Nintendo forum until he felt he needed to post this thread.

Small minded people dislike or ignore things they don't understand.

That can apply to posters, critics, or anyone.

Personally, since most video game media cater to males 18-30 -- and those individuals tend to play HD consoles -- they ignore the Wii out of enlightened self-interest. In other words, the people who watch the shows or read the websites or buy the magazines don't bother with the Wii -- so the TV shows, websites, or magazines don't say much (or much good) about it.

Ironically, Game Informer's own reader survey showed it had more readers with Wiis than PS3s -- but that is an issues for another day. So the assumptions underpinning this economic model are incorrect. But that is a thread for another day.

So which group is the Wii turning on?

10 year olds imo.

I take that as confirmation that you own a Wii?

The thread is just a long winded way of saying the exact same thing certain people have been saying forever in different ways.
"Wii has no games."
"Wii games are for casuals Lol."
"There is no 3rd party support on the Wii."
Now:
"Developers don't make games that I like fast enough to give them to people who buy the Wii."

But a guy like Legend really just wants to know or knows that the Wii is incapable of such games out of the box.

It's only natural to want people to see your own point of view, it's just that the OP does it in a patronizing manner to those who see the real intent behind it.

Of course he's made a lively thread by now 2 pages and all that. ;)

Your need to train your apathy skill because it suck.

Come on now, don't be ridiculous, the simple fact is that you care, a lot, you are probably obsessed with it and crap in your pant everytime you here its name. The "cool" act stopped working back in 6th grade, time to wake up.

When things are slow I look in the forums I don't normally frequent to find threads I'm interested in.  What I find interesting these days is that I'm completely apathetic towards the Wii.  Normally that would mean I wouldn't even bother posting something like this but I thought it was interesting especially in light of some of the Wii threads I've noticed recently.

Some of these threads are bashing videogame sites or videogame journalists but to be honest I think the reason many are saying what they are about the Wii is because they too are currently feeling apathy towards it.  The biggest new games for the system in the past few months have been Animal Crossing which apparently is just a rehash and Wii Music which while having its defenders seems to really live up to its title of being a non-game because who really is playing it.

This of course will change in the future but for those bashing videogame journalists, maybe that's the reason they are basically saying what they are about the system.  After you talk about sales, and really how long does it take to say it's selling amazingly well, what else is there really to talk about?  Games that are coming out next year?  The Dragon Quest X announcement really shouldn't have surprised anyone and the game won't be seen for at least another year or two.  Other than that are the same handful of promising games that we've already heard about months ago.

Anyways that's all I have to say and this isn't a knock against Wii owners or anything, I hope you're enjoying your system.  I just hope it explains to some who think what's being said is out of fear or anger or whatever emotion you can think of, it's likely just indifference.

To me it is the entire industry as a whole.  There have been few Xbox 360 games that interest me, and even fewer PS3 games.  There have been some fun Wii games this year, but they are flash in the pan.  Play for 10 minutes, then you are done for the day.

It seems you're losing your interest in gaming. Perhaps it's time to search for a new hobby.

We gamers need to live a more balance life.  Your whole life can't be just about video games.  We need to disconnect from the electronic world and enjoy real life.  like my dad always says what does the video game do for you.  Beating a game or gaining a new level on WoW isn't an accomplishment in real life.  Gaming is fun but it shouldn't be your life.

Well said.  I also typed my message after paying off a mortgate in ACCF, and looked a mountain of new debt as I got my second floor.  I wish I could have brought over my house and all my stuff from the DS version.  Bringing over the catalog was cool, but havin to redo everything all over again gets a little monotonous.

First of all, I have no idea why I used the word "Personally" in my comment. That's what happens when you type these things half asleep.

Secondly, the Wii is gaining traction among all other age groups. These include 10 year olds and 45 year olds and 70 year olds. Not everyone from these age groups perfer the Wii -- but far more from these age groups like the Wii than the HD consoles.

In many ways, the Wii is like Disney World. There is a stage where people feel they outgrow it ... but then most grow back into it.

I don't understand why you even post stuff like this. What is the point? Did somebody ask you for your professional opinion?

Why do we have be plagued with dozens of posts like this every day, with somebody spouting an opinion on something that makes absolutely no difference to anything in the world?
