Forums - Nintendo - Apathy for the Wii

I must admit that even though I had high hopes for the console, I'm becoming fairly apathetic towards the Wii as well. The PS3, which I also own, ranks just barely above apathetic for me though, so maybe I'm just losing interest in consoles themselves

I think OP position is one i would expect from people, if you dont like it that's fine and everything respects it, bashing something just because you dont like it that's where the problem with gaming community lies and there is just too much aggresivnes within it. It's similar to my approach to the PS3 i really dont need that console (because it's games do not interest me).

I do agree that all the fanboys follow the same pattern, however Wii is getting absolutely ridicilous amount of hate from PS360 owners and websites, their console is attacked all over internet without any valid reasons therefore many of them are responding to those kind of attacks.

Yes I'd say after rereading his posistion it is quite fair although I still think intentions were different.  I see no need in making a topic over it though.

But yea people have the right to like and hate what they want but a little bit of respect for fellow man and fellow accomplishments is just the right thing to do.

Anyways I agree all fanboys do follow the same patterns and Wii is getting a lot of hate right now because its top dog.  Every one wants to knock down the success of what the Wii has earned in any way possible.  The opposing fanboys do it for self-satisfaction of their own loyalties and opinions.  If they make somethign seem lesser and other things higher, it's self-fulfilling.  Sick kinda if you ask me.  However, almost none of it has justification which, to me, is the most disturbing aspect of it.  People like Bruce On Games is maybe the most disturbing who's latest article was written simply to ease the "pain" from himself yet the media gives it a mention for some odd reason.

And the same goes all ways, but its always going to be harsher on whoever leads the market.  I'm sure PS2 hate was probably quite rampant during the 6th generation.

Hey now, I think Legend's position is largely healthy. Taking out a few of the more... controversial parts, his main point is that he's indifferent to the Wii and doesn't care about it. However, he hopes that those who do like it are enjoying their system. What more are you guys hoping for? That's a completely reasonable position.

So if you simply ignore the condensending narrow-minded comments like "Wii Music which while having its defenders seems to really live up to its title of being a non-game because who really is playing it.", it's not controversial anymore.

The problem is he did write that, and as bigjon pointed out, Legend has never liked the Wii. He has somewhat of history of taking passive aggressive jabs at it. He doesn't own one, hasn't shown any major interest in it, yet he still occasionally posts in the Nintendo forums usually with some backhand compliments.

It's just like gebx posting every article he can find to cast Sony in a bad light. A lot of the stuff he posts may be interesting and have merit, be you're never really sure because of the poster's motives.

I think hate is a strong word, they are only consoles after all.

I bought my Wii before i got my PS3 and ive found since getting the PS3 i have bought hardly any Wii games, usually i set myself a budget for games and when i weigh up the choices, the money invariably ends up getting spent on the PS3 instead of the Wii.

So i guess i have become unintentionally apathetic, i just feel like i'm getting more for my money when i buy a PS3 game, thats not to say i'm right (not that there is right or wrong here), it just is what it is.

I know 09' is considered to be a stronger year for Wii than 08' games wise so maybe that will swap around again, but either way i agree i dont think anyone should have to apologise or give any justification for prefering one thing to another, what would be the point of the forum....

As a PS3 fan, I am more worried about the 360 than the wii. The wii does not affect my gaming style at all, while the 360 having Gears, fable 2, ffxIII really makes me wonder if i chose the right console. The wii is great but i don't care for it.

Yes, that's what I'm saying. The penchant for small jabs and insults is extremely prevalant, and I certainly do look down on it. I considered giving him a warning for it.

But his central message is reasonable and appropriate.

If you are really apathetic, then why would you post a long thread about your apathy? I'm apathetic to Blu-Ray because at this time it doesnt interest me or affect my life. But you don't see me making a thread telling everyone why I am apathetic to it and what caused such apathy.

If you have motives, and clearly you do, to make a thread denouncing the Wii, please don't make a disclaimer that you are apathetic as a fail-safe to insure no backlash. Just make the thread like every other poster does.

Either I don't know what apathy means anymore or your the most flamboyant liar I've had the opportunity to witness in action in a while.

I'll make it clear, your not feeling apathy your just in denial. The two can seem similar especially because they both involve a level of confusion, the difference is that in denial you push away what you don't understand and in apathy you ignore what you don't understand.

Now what you don't understand currently only you know, until of course you make it known, granted you attempted to with this thread or at least that was the farce. But beyond that would be my own assumptions and those come a dime a dozen, similar to opinions.

Exactly..couldn't have said it better myself...which incidentally is the reason I didn't even try.

But I will say that Wii bashing is so common and its way past tiresome. The fans or Wii owners are belittled and marinalized, and its all quite silly. I'm not a fan of either of the HD consoles (I'm a Wii and somewhat PC guy) But You will never see me bash either of those systems and I actually think they are both good systems that pretty much encompass to perfection the "traditional" video game system. (Though they are becomming more and more like mini pc's, and not videogame consoles imho) But besides graphical improvements, they really don't bring anything new to the table (imho) but some of the games are very good.

But I guess if it weren't for the fanboys forums would be boring ;)

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

This. Every time I see Legend post about the Wii, it seems like a veiled attempt to make some kind of negative comment about it. It makes it hard to appreciate any valid points he might bring up.
