Nothing affects the Wii. Not MGS4, not GTA IV, not Gears 2, not a $200 360. Not even a week second half lineup from Nintendo themselves. 3. Just how much software Wii can sell. It has opened up so many opportunities for so many different developers... Small and large. |
I agree with all three. It truly is amazing how the Wii faced off against three mega giants with no real hype game to speak off and it still beat them without any effort. When was the last time a console did that? No really, I want to know.
I'll also add the Nintendo Fall Conference as an epic 2008 moment. It was epic to me because it was the complete opposite of E3. It actually focused on game announcements and was down to Earth, meaning to staged antics, fake enthusiasm and focus on ideas than on concepts. It showed off many new games, including new entries in titles like Sin and Punishment and Trace Memory as well as many new IPs (I hope they get released in the US...). They also showed off shiny hardware in the form of the DSi and even made some worthy announcements like Club Nintendo coming to America.
