As much as I enjoyed some of the titles mentioned am I the only one tired of the GOTY nominees always being the big, tough, macho games?

I mean, last year we had a great variety with games like Bioshock, Mario Galaxy and Portal. Now, its like we went back and focused on the big, violent and would be epics.

Is there any wonder why people are trying something else?

Why did nhl 09 and r2 get nominations and gears 2 didnt?

Congrats to mgs 4 but this doesnt make sense.

 My guess (and it makes perfect sense really) is that they wanted to include games from all genres. Thats why they had the winner of best platformer (why LBP wasn't nominated), best racer, best sports game (nhl 09), etc. Also, they gave Gears 2 and Resistance 2 the same score but it seems like they felt R2 was better. It's not that uncommon either, many of the bigger review sites gave the games the same score, so it's not that unbelieveable that some of those reviewers actually felt R2 was slightly the better shooter. Personally I think they are very close but Gears 2 just barely wins out for me. Gamestop obviously had the opposite opinion which is fine, it's not like either of them were going to win anyway. lol

Gamespot is pure shit though in my book, just like the VGA's, though MGS4 does deserve GOTY.

I was talking about the other titles, but believe me when I say that some gamers see MGS as the epitome of violent macho games. Why do you think people complain when the game stops to tell a story? Because they rather see corpses roll and care about Snake's dilemmas.

GameSpot makes no sense. They nominated LBP for ps3 GotY but not NHL 09, yet NHL 09 gets nominated for overall GotY and not LBP.
