Currently, Wii and DS together own 13 of 50 places of the top 50 games sold of all time. That is 26%.

I predict that by the end of the generation, this number will be up to 40 percent, or 20 games.

Furthermore, I predict that by the end of the generation, Wii and DS will have made the Top 20 games sold of all time Nintendo exclusive again, thus putting GTA San Andreas at number 21, with almost 18 million sold.

Such is the power of Nintendo.

Some more facts.

Titles above 20M = 8

By Nintendo = 8 = 100%

On Wii = 1 (soon 2) = 12.5%

On DS = 1 (soon 2) = 12.5%

Wii or DS = 25%

 

Above 10M = 31 titles

By Nintendo = 25 = 81%

On Wii = 4 = 13%

On DS = 7 = 22.5%

Wii or DS = 11 = 35.5%

 

Above 5M = 99 titles

By Nintendo = 58 = 58.6%

On Wii = 9 = 9.1%

On DS = 9 = 9.1%

Wii or DS = 18 = 18.2%

I don't think Nintendo has had the top 20 ever, or at least not since the 4th gen

Gran Turismo has only been outsold by 10previous generation games. Thus, it has stopped the Nintendo top 20 since it was released.

 

For taking back the top 20 - I doubt it.

Only 5 more DS games are likely to beat it. Thus bringing it down to 16th.

Then

MKWii & Wii Fit will pass GTA:SA. 18th

3 more games need to break 18M. From DS, that's not going to happen. Not a single game from there.

From Wii? Well... Wii Sports resort could make it...

I really doubt 2 more Wii games will pass 18M.

NSMB for DS just moved into 11th place as of today. San Andreas is now 12th.

See the point I am trying to make here is that this is just a massive shift in Top SW of all time. I mean San Andreas was the best selling game on the best selling console ever. By the time it finished selling, it was like 8th of all time. By the time this gen is done, it will be 18th or lower. That means 10 games will have passed it, and all these games will be on DS or Wii.

That I find truly mindboggling.
