[NDS] Phantasy Star Zero (Sega) - 63,000 (31%)

Very disappointing for Phantasy Star Zero. Unlike Phantasy Star Portable, it even had an Online Infrastructure, and yet it didn't even make one third of its sales. For some reason multiplayer games sell much better on PSP than on anything else in Japan.

*Phantasy Star Portable sold 217,000 on day one.

PSP owners are "educated" to online gaming, unlike DS owners, this may be an explanation. But yes, it's disapointing.

I asked Capcom's VP of R&D (Sven) once why there's no Monster Hunter Portable on DS, and he answered that there's no point since the userbase is on the PSP. Looking at the numbers, I suspect they probably did a research. For this type of games, PSP is hands down the safest bet.
