When you think about it, it's still pretty awesome what the PS3 achieved even without a year headstart!

But yeah, a price cut is needed.

It's amazing what the PS2 achieved with a years headstart.  You're damn right a price cut is needed for the PS3.

Well the Dreamcast had a huge headstart on the PS2 and look what happened to it...a headstart is not everything.

LOL actually PS3 is doing better than in previous 4 weeks :) Compared to more than double sold at highest point.

Ummm...it is the holidays, when all consoles/handhelds increase their sales by a lot. Though the PS3 is down from last year's holiday numbers.

2009, will be a better year for MS. even there is KZ2 and other PS3 games

In the other thread, SONY still losing 50 dollars in every PS3 sold. We should face the facts and dont be blinded, theres no year for the PS3, the PS3 will be in last. Better luck next time and SONY should focus on the PS2 and PSP. And yeah, there'll be no price cut anytime soon especially that SONY still losing money

end of core gaming days prediction:

E3 2006-The beginning of the end. Wii introduced

E3 2008- Armageddon. Wii motion plus introduced. Wii Music. Reggie says Animal crossing was a core game. Massive disappointment. many Wii core gamers selling their Wii.

E3 2010- Tape runs out

there's nothing awesome about the performance of the ps3 , the successor of the market leading ps1&ps2. Most sony fanboys expected the 360 to be "dreamcasted"

and yet, it isn't double at half the price.

Your comment would make a lot more sense if the most expensive or even middle tier 360 model was half the price of the PS3.

The lowest tier 360 model is half the price of the lowest tier PS3 model. The most basic 360 model does not account for 100% of the 360 units sold to customers, so I think your point has a flaw.

The price is the ultimate deciding point(consistently with most products) anyway you look at it, especially for the average consumer.  The fact that the 360 has several models should encourage other demographics (finding the consumer that gets discouraged is difficult to determine). But regardless of the sure consumers, the average consumer is the real meat.  The arcade version has already been said to be about half of the total 360s sold this holiday season.  If this turns out true, then there it is I guess.

You original comment was that sales are not double [for the 360] despite it being half the price. If 100% of the models sold were the base unit, you would have a pretty valid argument.

I do not contest your most recent idea, but the first was flawed. You state that the base model accounts for 50% of all 360 units sold, so why should the total number of all models be double that of the PS3 when all models are not half the price of the PS3?

I also think it's worth noting that Sony made the decision to release an absurdly expensive gaming console, just as Microsoft made the decision to wait too late to address unreliable hardware.

I'm not a fanboy, I just try to tip the balance in favor of logic and common sense.

Sony made a choice, they wanted Blu-Ray to win and used the PS3 as a jump-off platform. Results: Blu-Ray won, but PS3 ended up delayed and over-priced. But let's not judge to quickly. PS3 still has some major titles coming up, and a long way to go price-wise. They hade some limited offers here with PS3 selling for 299, also some older 40 gb models and they al sold out in the blink of an eye(i managed to snatch a 80gb with blu-ray remote). I'm pretty confident PS3 will overtake Xbox 360 within 2 years tops. Wii will be the ''victor'' this gen but if your hounest it's not targeting the same group, i mean my mom even got a Wii and she usually hates videogames.

Why do you sound like you want the PS3 to die? Lol in fact you sound desperate. How could PS3's death effect you at all? It's not like if PS3 died then you would be able to play any of the amazing HD titles like MGS4, Killzone 2, Resistance 2, Infamous, GTA 4, Valkeria Chroicles Uncharted-or any other HD title for that matter, on your Wii. Try not to be such a hater. Enjoy the exellent titles on Wii that came out this holiday like Wii music and Animal Crossing. As for me I never have to worry about such things I have both.

OT: Ohhh Ahh EEEK X360 will continue to outsell PS3 untill the PS3 gets a price cut to $299, which point PS3 will start selling double what 360 does- Unless MS brings the Arcade down to $150. There can obviously be no doubt that the $199 arcade was a very good move for MS- But PS3 is far from dead. In fact selling 20 million consoles each Priced $600-$400 each aint that bad. You're talking about a Gamecube userbase in with only 2 years on the market. And I don't give a fuck how much money Sony loses so long as the games keep rolling out (and they have, gem after gem). So if everyone knows that the $199 360 is going to outsell the $400 PS3 then why rant about it. It's worth noting, but no big surprise like "OWWW OUCH OMG PWN".

Because Im also a PSX and PS2 fan too, and as far as happening right now, the PS3 is hurting the Playstation brand. This holiday sales is the last straw, the PS3 has got to go. In fact, even with the avalanche sales of DS I prefer the PSP more. Only means that Im not a fanboy and just favoring Nintendo products. I have a PSX and PS2 before I got a Wii. I dont even own a SNES, GC or N64.
